Never in my life have I been this excited to read someone else's birth story. It's just so similar - overdue, second kid, transverse earlier but had been confirmed vertex, go into labor and "surprise!" last minute flip to breech. Even the short labor (although 2.5 hours is way faster than my DD, who was 5). #overinvested for sure.

Okay now I have two hands sort of so here's the quick and dirty:
Midnight my contractions started but I thought I would chill out in the tub and wait for my parents to drive up to watch Ben. I was on the phone with my mom at 12:30 saying I didn't know if she should come or not because my contractions were 7-10 minutes apart. I told her I'd call her at 1.
My doula came over just before 1 and applied counter pressure to my back while I contracted in the tub. I decided at this point to call Ben's daycare teacher instead since she is local v. 2.5 hours away. She arrived and I felt good so I got out of the tub to get dressed and ready to labor on the yoga ball. My doula ran home to get her bag.
My contractions started coming 4-5 minutes apart and my doula thought I should wait to go to the hospital until they had been like that for an hour but I was in so much pain I called my OB who told me to come in. We got in the car, which was awful but thankfully the ride was only two miles unlike our last birth the hospital was 25 minutes away. We left at 2:09.
Get to the hospital. Valet is closed so we leave van in firs lane. Go up wrong elevator bank. Cry. Get to L&D and they keep asking me repetitive questions. Cry until DH demands a room. Get into room. Get checked. I'm 6 cm and in so much pain. Demand epidural. They can't get the IV in because I keep writhing around in pain.
I say I urgently need to pee. They say okay and unhook me. I pee but I feel SO much pressure and wam my water broke. Ouch! They all hear it through the door and rush me back to bed. I'm ten centimeters! Too late for the epidural. Holy shit! I get excited/scared for a med free birth.
Then things get crazy. He's breech! A hundred people enter the room. They are screaming at me to push "or he won't make it." I am screaming and trying to rise from the bed like The Exorcist. Ring of fire is real plus a doctor's entire arm in my vagina desperately trying to grab a baby out. DH and doula keep pushing my legs open. Ouch. You HAVE to push hard. Apparently his head was still inside me but his body was blue and limp hanging out.
Finally he's out. It's 2:42. The room is like a murder scene. He's not breathing and I can't see him. They massaged his body and suctioned the fluids from his mouth. Finally he coughs, takes some breaths and cries!
Third degree tear.

Perfect baby
Tongue tied but we got it clipped. Sort of BFing okay I think.
I can't edit but he was feet first so double footling breech. A bunch of people had never seen one. My nurse said it was her scariest delivery. The midwife who first checked me came to apologize (not sure why) and it looked like she was crying.
