Wow! That is so crazy! I'm glad everything turned out okay and you both are recovering and healthy! I can't imagine how the felt with all the craziness happening so fast!
OMFG! What a crazy story! Sounds like the midwife was pretty guilt ridden about not catching that the baby was breech. So glad everyone is ok.
We need a baby pic!
I think so but we aren't even sure he was breech until my water broke. I had an a regular appointment earlier in the day and they didn't notice it then.

Oh well, he's fine now! My poor vag will heal.
You have mmm's blessing to take all the drugs the hospital has now to deal with that tear after going med free through all that

Holy crap, what a crazy story - that must have been so scary! I bet you guys will be the talk of L&D for a while. He is so beautiful - congratulations!
Then things get crazy. He's breech! A hundred people enter the room. They are screaming at me to push "or he won't make it." I am screaming and trying to rise from the bed like The Exorcist. Ring of fire is real plus a doctor's entire arm in my vagina desperately trying to grab a baby out. DH and doula keep pushing my legs open. Ouch. You HAVE to push hard. Apparently his head was still inside me but his body was blue and limp hanging out.
Finally he's out. It's 2:42. The room is like a murder scene. He's not breathing and I can't see him. They massaged his body and suctioned the fluids from his mouth. Finally he coughs, takes some breaths and cries!
OMG... so many emotions.
I am so so so so so sorry that you didn't have a provider that had any idea WTF they were doing. The limp and blue and not crying right away is all NORMAL in a breech birth! Omg. I cannot imagine how badly I would have been freaking out if I hadn't been warned about how it was going to go. I see now why you said it was scary
THIS is why OBs need to be trained in breech births.
Since it seems like the docs don't know about breech births... know that if his bum is bruised (which it likely is) it will go away in a matter of a day or two - it does not last like normal bruises do. And you'll likely be referred to a pediatric hospital to get his hips u/s to check for dislocation when he's about 6w.
You did a great job! Hope recovery goes smoothly for you.
I don't know how you process big things, but I needed to talk about my DD's birth. A lot. I talked to anyone that would listen and then wrote about it in journals and then talked about it online some more, and even now I'm getting all teary thinking about it. If you're the same way and want to talk with someone that's BTDT, feel free to PM me. If I've already crossed from "well-intended internet friend" to "creepy overinvested girl" please feel free to tell me to pound sand, too.
Eta: nevermind about the bruising and hip u/s - didn't see your update about footing breech.
What a crazy story!! So glad everyone is healthy and happy.
I had a 3rd deg tear and healed up just fine, just give it rest and time:)
Also, I was born breech about five min after my parents got to the hospital and the dr who delivered me still says "oh yeah, I will never forget your birth!" When he sees me. ( small town, and we attended the same church until I moved away).
Also, WHY did they make you deliver lying down in that situation? I would think that standing up or squatting would be better, since gravity would help?
Omg, I'm just so amazed. And so very happy they you guys are alright!
