I used one in 2011 and 2012 and loved how pretty it was and writing in it was fun.
Then I ordered my 2013 planner, but H and I figured out how to sync our Google calendars in the meantime, so I never used it. I tried keeping it updated, but it just couldn't compare to my automatically synced Google calendar. Waste of $50
I got one this year and had a Plum Paper (Etsy, almost identical in terms of layout, but a little cheaper and more customizable) one last year.
I still use my Google calendar that's synced with my husband's calendar for personal and family stuff, as well as any work stuff that affects the start/end time of my day. I use my paper planner to keep track of all of that as well as work stuff that I don't put on my Google calendar. I know I could add a work calendar to my electronic one, but that just hadn't worked as well for me - I end up forgetting to put stuff on it or look at it. I don't like having that stuff clog up my calendar in my phone anyway, so I keep that for things that actually majorly affect my day. My paper planner gets the major stuff and the minor stuff.
Examples of stuff that I put in my paper planner but not my electronic one: exam dates, whether or not we took any points in class that day, student appointments, students who come to my office hours, etc.
I don't use a life planner because computers but I have two of the notebooks I use a lot. I keep one at work for to do lists and taking notes at meeting and one at home for P's medical stuff (notes, handouts, business cards, etc). I like them a lot for that.
Do you need a PLANNER, or do you really just need a calendar? I got an EC last year and I was "meh" about it. It's really bulky and I really just needed a calendar.
I also use my phone calendar but I need to be able to see everything on paper too.
The calendar I got is smaller and a LOT cheaper and serves the exact same purpose for me.
i just got mine and it's beeyoutiful. I've always liked a paper calendar and I like to see everything in one place. I use my phone calendar too, but I don't like it. I got the fancy pens, too.
I loooove my planner. It is pretty and I've always preferred actually writing things down. I have a lot of due dates for work and I can't figure out how to track them with my outlook calendar in a way that's not totally confusing. The downside is the ECs are very bulky but mine stays on my desk at work so that's not really an issue for me.
I'm on my 3rd one and love it. I truly use it as a life planner - I plan parties and showers with it, keep track of Christmas and birthday gifts, keep track of financial stuff, and use it plan my days, weeks, and months.
I'm the type of person who needs to write things down and get immense satisfaction from physically crossing things off lists. It's worked very well for me.

You get me. I use a regular old notebook for my lists.
I just have a cheap Mead weekly-monthly planner. All I have to say is if I don't have it laying out on the counter open to the current week, I start to get a little shaky.
While still very much a paper planner kind of gal ( my work calendar is online and on my phone). I find just regular planner works. I get the weekly kind so there enough room to write stuff down for each day. I also love Sticky notes so they are all over my planner as well.

I did just get a notebook for PTA and Girl Scout stuff since that is more than my planner can handle. They got me with those dividers man. I am considering another one for holiday stuff and entertaining. Because I am a crazy person.
