I got a phone call, on my work number, yesterday afternoon from a recruiter. I missed the call (aka didn't answer because I didn't know the number), and he left a voicemail. He said that he was a recruiter and he had a position open in my industry and wanted to discuss if I was in the market for job opportunities or not. I have no clue how he got the number, especially because the only contact on my LinkedIn profile is a personal email address.
I've basically decided that I'm not currently in the market, and will be waiting to look anywhere else until after I have this baby. But do I call the guy back and tell him that, but that I'd like him to keep my name in mind for future opportunities? Do I just ignore?
I think sometimes they get a general office number and just cold call every extension. If you're going to be looking in the near future, I'd call them back from your personal number.
Linkedin where they see where you currently work and then call the receptionist at the front desk. One method.
If you are interested in making switch in the future I would call back and tell them to keep you in mind for next time. If they are any good they will keep your resume in a file for next time.
