Long shot-painting IKEA RIBBA frames?

I'm trying to avoid spending $$$$$ for the map I'm doing for DS' room (http://pandce.proboards.com/thread/452344/wwyd-map-ds-room). The wall where this is going to go is 37" wide, so I am a bit limited in size. I found a frame in stock at IKEA, but it's black. Everything else in his room is either white or cherry.

How easy would it be to paint this thing? Anyone successfully done it? The frame in white is out of stock with no estimate, so that's out. I want to get this project done!

ETA: Nevermind. I found it in white. It's in stock at the store near me too-yay!

You'd have to give it a good sanding but after that I think it would paint well.

I thought they had the Ribba in white in the bigger sizes, I was just there Monday looking and I thought I saw one.

Doh. You're right. I just found it. I went through one by one to look at the sizes in white. I missed it the first time around. Thank you!!
