Can I put fruit on carrot cake?

Specifically strawberries and blueberries? Cream cheese icing, super moist cake. I can't decide how I feel about it.

I think it would be ok. Just leave space between the fruit so people can eat around it and still get frosting, if they want.

I wouldn't. What about making an orange cream cheese frosting. It's what I do when I make carrot cake. You could also do pineapple cream cheese frosting.

If I were making the cake, I'd make the Magnolia carrot cake recipe and MAYBE put a strawberry glaze on it if you really wanted strawberry and I couldn't talk you out if it.

Yep. I'm supposed to bring 4th of July dessert to my mom's and I've been craving carrot cake. My dad's recipe is made in a 9x13 pan.

Please don't ruin a good carrot cake. My MIL makes a phenomenal one that she ALWAYS insists on garnishing with strawberries. It just ruins it.

hmmmm.  How about sprinkles? I think plain sugar blue and red sprinkles would be much better at decorating without ruining the cake.

Now that I think about this some more, I'd much rather have an American flag cake (with strawberries and blueberries) that is carrot cake than some other type of cake, provided the white part is indeed cream cheese frosting.

If it was a cake you were just making for your family, I would say go for it.  However, I think most people would shy away from eating it.  Well, that would leave more for you, so maybe it would be a win-win?
