These shots I have to give myself hurt so bad, like make me cry bad. I need hair pets. My stomach is all bruised and I want to go home. This sucks you guys!
I had planned before this happened to stay until Wednesday, but I may have to stay longer. I'm crossing my fingers that the doctor will say it's ok when I have my appointment on Monday. I'm thinking that if I can fly, I might change my flight and leave early.
I had to have one of those belly shots for blood clotting (it was preventative, i didn't have one) and they really freaking hurt! And I didn't even have to do the shot myself. I hope you heal quickly and can get home soon!
I had to give myself thinners through all of my pregnancies. Those things are no joke and they suck! And I've taken 1.5 inch progesterone needles to the ass! You can ice the area before and after, that helps.

I am on Lovanox. And it fucking hurts. My belly looks like it's been hit with a baseball multiple times. I'm expecting my whole belly to be black and blue.

Yep, it sucks. I've had to do it for both of my pregnancies with DS2 and DS3, as well as 1 month after each of them. It's strange, sometimes I wouldn't feel it at all, other times it was so painful I could hardly go through with giving myself the shot. Make sure you're truly going in perpendicular to the skin. Are you pinching a chunk of your stomach and then injecting into that? I thought everyone knew to do that but later found that some people weren't doing that. Hopefully you can go home soon!
I have a round of 14 shots. And yes, I'm pinching the skin.
And now I'm reading online that if you've just recently had a dvt diagnosis you can't fly for two weeks and up to 3 months. That can't be right!! I need to stop reading.

It sounds pretty legit. Can you drive home?
I live all the way across the country, have no car and can't walk. So no.

Sorry, this sounds right, but I didn't want to be a bearer of bad news.
Definitely the train. I love taking the train and while 3-5 days sucks, it's much better than waiting weeks or the serious consequences of flying too soon.
I recently had to do Lovenox and found if I went closer to my side vs closer to my belly button it didn't hurt as bad. Also someone else gave me a tip of putting the needle up against the skin, then sort of slowly pushing it in as opposed to just sort of jabbing yourself quickly. I don't know about that one, but it sort of helped. Although mentally it was harder because it felt more deliberate and was slower.
Are you on fragmin? Make sure you are doing them as directed. If they are subcutaneous, make sure you give them at a 45 degree angle. Those shots hurt like a bitch. Sorry your having to go through all of this.
I dont think this is a pain tolerance issue, ironman. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this while you're away from home. I'd be a mess if I felt like I couldn't get home. I would confirm with the dr, and then if they agreed on no flying, I would look into a train or renting a car.
I don't think joenali is actually considering this, but I don't really think a cross country road trip is the smartest alternative in her situation. That's high risk as well. The train might not be such a bad idea, though.
I'm so sorry, A. This is not you being a wuss. It just all around sucks. ((hugs))
