Holds 2 kids, but NOT side by side seats. Ideally it would be like a sit and stand so the toddler has a place to go when just walking around rough terrain, but when I want to run with just one kid I can without an unwieldy monster stroller.
I've been looking at the Phil and Ted ones with the 2nd seat add on, but it doesn't look like their 3-wheel strollers are actually designed for running.
If I had to get one with side by side seats, is there an option that is quite slim?
I'm just chiming in to say you may be surprised what can fit in a sadan's trunk. We can get our baby jogger summit double in a Mazda 3 trunk. It is not at all a compact double jogger, but it folds up nicely.
We love our Valco Tri Mode with the added Joey Seat (or you could add the "hitch hiker" if you just want a jump board and not a 2nd seat). I did a lot of research before buying a jogging stroller and this one offered the best options for us.
We took it to the park every weekend when my kids were younger and it fit in the back of both my Murano and Dh's car.

Is this really a jogger though? I have this and I think it's a heavy beast of a stroller. Granted mine is the twin and then has the Joey seat so that might be the difference. But it's definitely bigger and heavier than my city select which I also wouldn't really use for jogging. I just picture jogging strollers to be lighter.
Have you looked at The babyjogger city select? It's 4 wheels and not really "designed for running" either, but totally works...
So I have the City Mini (3 wheeled) do you think jogging would work? If so, that would be awesome, but I'm a little nervous to try...
You're not supposed to. Per the Baby Jogger website:
The Summit X3 stroller/jogger hybrid and F.I.T. jogger are our current jogging strollers and are intended to be used for jogging, running or exercise. The City Series and the Vue are urban and all-terrain strollers that provide optimum versatility for everyday use, they are not intended for jogging or running and should not be used for these activities.

I used it for running, granted I didn't go really long distances though. I always thought it was building my core strength! :-) If you are a serious runner, it's probably not the lightest option out there.

Yes, it absolutely builds core stength! I just walk briskly with mine but that things weighs over 100lbs with all 3 kids in it. I'm not a runner though so I can't imagine running while pushing that.

We have but it's not a smooth ride for DD. We absolutely love our City Mini but we are actually buying a jogging stroller because we want something better.

How much running will you be doing with it? Most of the options listed in the post have much smaller wheels than standard joggers. May be fine if you're doing an occasional 3 miles, but if you are going frequently or longer distance I'd get a true jogging stroller. I think it would be a beast to try and run with a stroller with small wheels.
I don't think the mountain buggy +1 would work, the child in back would keep kicking the child in front? I put my 3 year old on the foot bed of the bob the other day while my 1 year old sat in the seat and he kept kicking her and she cried etc. I wouldn't buy the +1 because of that
phil and teds style seems like what you need though I've heard it can be tough to jog, they aren't designed specifically for it and the second seat could get in the way of your knees etc..
There is a mountain buggy Duet which is a very narrow double stroller (only 25 inches wide it says) but it says it's not specifically for jogging like other mountain buggys
