I'm flying to Charlotte in a few weeks with Piper, she will be 6 months old, H is not going. I have transportation in NC, and once I get home to MI, but I need to figure out a ride to the airport and then figure out how I want to navigate the airport. So really this is 2 WWYDs.
Getting to the airport:
a) Drive and park myself, then take the shuttle to the terminal. It's 10/day for parking, and then H wouldn't pick me up after the trip. b) Uber? I'd have to buckle the carseat into the car without it's base, but I'll be doing that in NC anyway c) Ask a friend, same deal with the base
As a note, we have no local family at all so that's not an option. I'm leaning towards b? Maybe?
Getting around the airport:
1) Check my car seat and suitcase at the desk/curbside and wear Piper, carrying only the diaper bag 2) Use the car seat in the snap and go, check the suitcase, go through security with the stroller, then gate-check both items, and wear Piper onto the plane
I can check for free.
I'm leaning towards 1 here. if I do option a above, I'm not doing 2 at all.
Seatbelt install for an infant seat is easy. I kept the seat and snap-n-go and gate checked with DS when I went with him (5 months). You can also seatbelt install in a regular cab. I'd do a cab or Uber if it's cheaper than the parking fee. Or bum a ride from a friend if you can.
Will you need the stroller in NC? What are you doing there? If she is still in the infant seat, it might be nice. But I never did a lot of baby wearing, especially in the summer we were both too hot.
I have never used uber (is it a thing in OH?! Lol. I live in the burbs, we all have cars and drive wherever we want to go, so...)
Nope, I rarely/never use a stroller unless I'm running which I won't do there.

I'd go with either option B or C, and then #2. You might get tired wearing the baby in the airport, especially if there are any delays (take that FWIW, I've never been a successful baby-wearer).
Nice part about the infant travel phase is that the carseat and stroller can be used together as a unit, without extra MacGyvering.
Like @tokenhoser said, seatbelt install for a bucket seat is super easy. I've never used a base with ours. Are you traveling with your car seat anyway? I had DH take an Uber with me to the airport this past weekend just so he could take the car seat back home with him.
I don't have a snap & go, so I've just worn both of my kids around the airport when they were little enough to be worn. I even checked the stroller at the counter on this most recent trip. I sat DS in it to have dinner and then I went back to the counter to check it before we went through security.
We just flew to Charlotte two weekends ago! My dad dropped us off at the airport, which was so much more convenient than having to park and lug all of DDs stuff from the parking lot. We rented a car and used her bucket seat in the rental with a seat belt and no issues, so Uber or a friend dropping you off would be my choice.
We gate checked her car seat and stroller with no issue. I wouldn't want to be in the airport without a stroller by myself because it's somewhere DD can sit while you use the bathroom.

I wear my baby to go to the bathroom. It's hard to luck out on getting a stall big enough for the stroller at the airport and I hate the idea of leaving the stroller alone, even if I am just on the other side of the stall door.

A or B whichever is cheaper and depending on what time your flight is. Navigating the self-park area and getting on the shuttle definitely adds time (we have to do it next week with an 8a flight an hour away, NOT looking forward to that wakeup time!)
And option 1 especially if you don't regularly use the stroller. Baby wearing makes everything through security sooooooo much easier, just toss your shoes and the diaper bag on the belt and they'll walk you through the metal detector, swipe your hands and you're on your way. It was a pain to bring the stroller when I traveled alone and C hated it anyway. I still wear her through security at almost 2 and 30lbs, lol.
Not all airports do this! I Had C asleep on me at the airport (SFO) in the ergo, they made me take him out, run the ergo through the security thing and hold him straight out in front of me in the stupid metal detector. He was 11 months old and 25lbs, it was a nightmare! He never went back to sleep (redeye to FL).
I always gate check car seat and snap n go. Even if I'm wearing her, I don't mind pushing the stroller. Push with one hand, pull suitcase with other hand, wear baby. People are quite impressed by this maneuver, actually
And, I would drive myself, just because I'm weird about relying on others on travel days.

Not in my experience. I flew alone with both girls when DD1 was 3.5 and DD2 was two months. I was wearing DD2 and she was sound asleep and they made me wake her up and take her out and put the carrier and everything through the scanner and carry her through. It was a nightmare. She was screaming and DD1 was wandering around and there were crowds of people. Screw that.

True. Miami airport always made me take the carrier off. But it's the only one of all the airports I've been through with a carrier. Everywhere else was like swizz says.

I would Uber, assuming it is the same or less than parking, take the stroller and put the bag in it (so your not having to push pull two things) wear the baby. Curb curb whatever you can for free.
I have seen them wand a mom and her two babies. She looked like she was about to cry and the babies were crying. I felt so bad for her, but you can't offer to help someone when security has them.
Have a great time! I learned to sail on Lake Norman at my godparents place as a kid. Good times.
I would do c and 2. We rarely use the stroller, but I love it while traveling. I live in Charlotte and I will say it is the most family friendly airport I have been to. Enjoy your trip!
Alright I think I will do B (Uber is super cheap to get me to the airport) and both 1 and 2, wear the baby while pushing the stroller with the bag in it and gate check.

I did DTW->CLT by myself a week and a half ago. Getting around with my luggage was my biggest stressor, so having to worry about getting everything in and out of the shuttle would have been a no-go for me. I took her umbrella stroller and gate checked that, and checked her car seat with the bags. I like having the stroller with me to make it easier for diaper changes (I'd rather change her in the stroller than on the bathroom changing pad thing) and for me going to the bathroom (use the family restrooms at DTW). Plus then I can put my carry on in the stroller while I wear her. I always wear DD through security. Neither DTW nor CLT make you take the baby out (at least they never have for me). They just make you wait to have your hands swabbed if you have a baby in the carrier. DTW is generally pretty efficient at security, but I will say that CLT was sloooow with getting someone for the hand swab and to screen the liquids I had for the baby, so I'd recommend a little extra time to get through security.

This was really helpful thank you!
I wish I could use an umbrella stroller. She's still too little
