Old Navy, Kohl's and Target, mostly. Also the local thrift store for t-shirts. I bought him a pair of shorts from Macy's. He can wear t-shirts and jeans or shorts to work.
For non-work clothes, he gets a monthly subscription to Five-Four - it's kind of like stitch fix for men. He'll pick up something at banana, gap, or jcrew sometimes.

My H is a champion dresser and GQ subscriber.
He gets shoes at Nordstrom and apparel at a variety of places. He likes Banana, Costco dress shirts, Kohls and Target. He often wears slim fit dress shirts to work, or golf polos on more casual days. His casual wear is usually a v-neck striped tee from Target.
Zara and other European chains that seem to accommodate the smaller, Meditteranean-type build better than a lot of American chains do.
If your H is not 5'6 with a small frame, then ignore me.
Haha, we have the opposite problem. He's 6'4" and medium build. It's so hard to find stuff that's long enough for him but not hugely big everywhere else!
This is my H. I find a lot of size large talls at Dillard's. Murano is his favorite brand for soft polos and "nice" t shirts. I think I've also found some large talls at kohls as well. They just fit much better than regular xls .

H is built the same. J Crew/Factory and Nordstrom will definitely have clothes for him.
Dh is 6'3 and 300 lbs. 80% of his clothes come from JC Penny because we can always walk in and find things that fit. The other 15% is Dillard's and 5% is random stuff from stores like Burlington and Ross.
