Anyone have a recipe they like and want to share? I am making cupcakes for DD's party and my usual Wilton buttercream is too heavy, IMO. I would prefer not a cream cheese frosting but will consider if you rave about it. Cupcakes will be funfetti with white frosting.
Or just do SMBC like @peggyolson and @mrswindycity said. It's light, and not overly sweet. Make sure to use unsalted butter.
Can you pipe/decorate with this frosting, or is it too soft?
I'm always on the lookout for a less sweet buttercream that I can use for decorating birthday cake.
I have no problem piping onto cupcakes and have frosted cakes with it. It would be fine for borders/writing, but I would probably use a stiffer buttercream for more intricate piping details.
I really like this frosting. I'm not a fan of regular buttercream as it's just TOO sweet. This seems to be the right level of sweetness for me ...and its much easier than a meringue buttercream
