Here in the Raleigh, NC area they do have year round AND traditional options. There are 4 "tracks" of school for year rounds, 3 of which started today. 1 Track was done school the first week of June and went back today. 2 tracks ended LAST Tuesday, June 30th and started back today (1 week SUmmer vacation), and 1 track finished last Tuesday and goes back July 27th I think. DD is on one of the tracks that actually had/has a "summer vacation" of 4 weeks. There is traditional too which ended like June 8th and goes back mid August I think.
Thank you! Makes sense now. He posted a "last day" pic last week!
It's so crazy how they finish last Tuesday and start a new grade a week later. Everyone gets 9 weeks IN, 3 weeks OFF, approx. We like having off every couple of months and being able to travel when most other kids are in. Dd gets a 3 week span in the fall, winter and spring, then 4 weeks or so for summer. If parents don't like that, they have the traditional option if they want.
WHERE IS MY FUCKING LIST, KINDER TEACHER!?? I WANT TO SHOP RIGHT NOW!
Man, I love me some school supplies. I'll probably spend the money I am saving on daycare on school supplies.
My SS starts high school this fall, and I am irrationally irritated that I can't find the school supply list on the website. I want to get his stuff early, and before tax free weekend.

This, except my DD starts pre-K and in August.
I am so. Excited. For school supplies. I actually called the school today and asked when we'd get the school supply list, and the receptionist acted really confused as to why I would want it so early.

There was never a list for my daughter's high school. I would buy some notebooks, folders, pencils, and pens. Then when she went to class the teachers would give any specific items they would need for the individual classes.

So are there camps available year-round, or are year round tracks really only an option for kids with a sah parent or nanny?

There are track out camps everywhere, from standard daycares, YMCA's to different sports camps.

I guess it makes sense, because there are so many different courses offered at the high school level. ie. one list won't work for all the students
