E does really well with water in an open cup at home, but I'm not tempting fate with milk.
Her zoli cups are starting to suck. The second set of straws just had one break and we are having a horrible time with the cups sealing well. I guess the lifespan is a year.
A couple friends recommended the munchkin or sassy cups for milk.
We have the Sassy Cup and it was fantastic for DD. It took her a few days to get it, but once she did it was super easy. Cleaning is easy and it doesn't spill unless the lip of the cup is on its side and touching fabric (it gets drawn out).

We have been doing an open cup for milk at home recently. We only do milk for meals though. I found these little cups we love at walmart in the summer section that are open cups but have a straw built in on the side. For a lid I still prefer the take and toss straw cups for milk.
I got some of the Philips Avent natural drinking cups, which are the same concept, and it took DD about 8 seconds to figure out that she could splash water everywhere by banging it on her high chair, which is obviously more fun than drinking water.
Are the munchkin ones better, or is she just too young for them?
We have at least half a dozen of the Munchkin 360 cups. LOVE them, obviously. I find they leak a little if thrown/dropped immediately after drinking, but otherwise no issues. My tot hasn't complained about the liquid flow, and she was using straw cups before that.
We have the 360. J loves them and got them right away. The only thing that sucks is water comes shooting put when he throws them, you you might now have a problem with that if your DD doesn't throw. I like how easy they are to clean.
We use them and like them. J has been able to drink from a regular cup for quite a while but I like these to prevent spills. Andnthey work well for the girls. I actually just threw out all of our straw cups (other than their camelbak water bottles) in favor of these cups this weekend. So much easier to not have all the straw parts!
DD does really well with the Munchkin 360. I had to throw one of the lids away though - I found mold growing under the plastic ring after just a few months.
