So I want a Tula. I have an Ergo and really like it, but I want something new and pretty.
Can someone school me on them? It lookes like they are made from different fabrics?
My kids are 30 lbs and 20 lbs. I don't often carry the older one in the carrier, because the last time I did she said it wasn't comfortable. I'm thinking it makes sense to get a toddler sized one?

My 25 lb almost 33 inch 20 month old does not fit in a toddler size yet. Standard Tulas have a panel thats like 3 inches taller then the panel on the Ergo. (I'm going to look up the exact size difference) and toddlers are even taller. If you are fine using your Ergo for a while longer with your son, you could get a toddler for your daughter and just keep using the Ergo with your son.
Canvas are the cheaper ones. Wrap conversions are the $$$$$ ones.

Do you have any local stores that sell them? Or a local babywearing group? I'd look into trying them on. Every kid is different, but I doubt your DS would be ready for a toddler unless he's super tall.
Hmm, I was totally thinking about this today. I tried our Beco Gemini with DD on a back carry today and it wasn't comfortable. I was also thinking then DH and I could go on hikes with both of them (DS likes the Beco so far, way more than the stretchy wrap or ring sling).
Lenny Lamb also does full wrap conversions, and their carriers are shaped a bit differently. They also don't get the crazy prices that Tulas get. I have 2 canvas Tulas, and a Lenny Lamb. I think the LL is my favorite. It still isn't stopping me from trying to score a full WC at a Tula stocking though

The LLs are going for more than Tulas on the BST right now!
Yeah, I think Lenny's about to have a moment - they're definitely becoming more popular!
I'd see if you can go to a meeting or a local store. I do love my Tula, but it's not my favorite. Kinderpack is where it's at for me, but they are crazy, crazy hard to get your hands on right now. I also recently tried on an Action Baby Carrier and found it really, really comfortable - super cute patterns, made in the US, and WAY less expensive than other SSCs. Also comes in standard/toddler options.
Tulas are really popular, and people will tell you they're the best, but carriers are like jeans - the same one doesn't work best for every body.
I just sold our toddler tula to a friend for $100 :*( Crazy me but they need it for their trip to China for their second adoption so I wanted to cut them a deal. I figure I can get a different one if we have another kid. The toddler size was helpful from about 18 months to 2 and a half years, then she insisted on walking.

Really? Maybe I'm not part of the right groups. I don't think I've seen any Lenny's go for over $400, and I haven't seen any Tulas for less than $400. I have a BNWT Lenny posted right now for retail + shipping and can't get any bites.
