Yeah it is like that here too. I have friends who moved here in the middle of the year and some how landed a spot ASAP. I feel like they won the lottery.

It's like that around here, too. Out of curiosity, is the spot in the infant room, or toddler room? I wonder if they look at that when offering spots. edit: never mind, you answered above. I'm slow!
We got on wait lists 18 months ago when I was pg. I got an e-mail from one place that they STILL don't have a spot for us when they move classes in August. LOL
We have been offered spots at a few places, finally. Apparently it's a bit easier to find care for a 1yo than an infant?
Yeah we were told there was a waiting list of over a year for my son's preschool...then about 5 minutes later my mom who was with me on the tour noticed one of the teachers who was one of her friends from back in the day. They spent the rest of the tour talking in the corner and catching up. 1 month later we get a call that there was a spot opening in two months. I have a suspicision that it's because of the teacher pulling some strings for us.

When I called around while pregnant EVERYONE had openings so I didn't even worry about it. When I started looking last week, they all had waitliats. Gah!
I felt good about getting him into one of our favorite places in Sep, but we have to figure out what to do with him for all of August...I think he will be going to work with each of us at least once a week. :/
Our daycare has a 2 year waiting list now. Apparently it's a year if you already have a kid there (we get priority). So as soon as that second line appears, you best be letting the director know before your husband.
