This is probably a stupid question, but do you buy half sizes in your kid's shoes? Say, you buy 6, 6.5, 7, etc. - you don't just move from 6 to 7 right?
I hate to be cheap, but their feet grow fast. I want to make sure I'm not being suckered by a millimeter growth difference that lasts 2 weeks. FWIW, I think I went 4, 5, 6 so far w/no half sizes.
DH REFUSES to buy half sizes and loses his shit when I do. I have a few times (DD2's shoes get too stinky to wear before she outgrows them, so I usually buy a 1/2 size pair in between to help minimize the stink). But yeah, we don't generally do the half size thing in the lurknomore house.
Technically I by half sizes because we started with 4.5 and are now in 5.5, but I plan to only go up a full size, not buy half sizes. So the girl at Stride Rite measured him at a 5 and I bought a 5.5. But his Keens are a 5 because they only come in full sizes.
No. Also, am I crazy or do some brands not even make half sizes?
This is what I was thinking! I don't think SKR did half sizes until 9+.
Ok, I'm not crazy. I primarily buy J SKR and he is in size 8 now. I didn't think I had ever seen a half size. I do buy Stride Rite sometimes and I think they have half sizes but I've never bought them.
Yes, we buy whichever fits best when we're buying them. If a half size bigger is too big, we don't buy it, mostly because I'm afraid of his feet rubbing in them too much/getting blisters. That's how I buy shoes for myself, so I never really thought about not doing the same when buying for him.

I buy whatever fits, with a finger tip or so of extra room in the toe. I don't think shoes are the same as putting your kid in one size up of a tee shirt.
I do. A half size too big is too much for him, it affects his walking. I only buy one pair on sneakers usually though he really doesn't need more than that
I just started with DD. She's 4 and her feet have slowed down considerably. She just outgrew shoes from my sister's wedding in May 2014. Before that it was whole all the way or we'd be changing shoes constantly.
With DS I do do the half sizes. He's just one of those kids that if his shoes are at all too big he trips and just looks so uncomfortable. His feet also don't seem to grow all that fast either.
Good quality, good fitting kid shoes are my parenting hill so I do it.
