Yesterday his pedi said to give him pedialyte, not formula, and rice cereal and bananas to eat. Which is fine except he hadn't had any solid food yet and still has a pretty strong tounge thrust. So we tried yesterday and this morning, but he doesn't really get it. He maybe had an ounce of bananas and even less cereal. He still has diarrhea but isbpeeing and otherwise does not seem dehydrated.
Would you give him formula? I'm worried he's not getting any nutrition. I'm waiting for the pedi to get back from lunch
Yea now isn't the time to "work on" spoon feeding. I'd call and ask how long just pedialyte is ok. A few days of no formula isn't going to do long term damage as long as he is hydrated. I'd add some Lactobacillus, refrigerated probiotic, to the pedialyte or formula. It really helps DS2 when he has stomach issues.
On a side note, I recommend an ARK Z-Vibe to work on tongue thrust. We use it to show Ds2 how to control his tongue.
