I know you are picturing insanely bad eyebrow tattoos right now. Lol
Two of my coworkers always have the most perfect eyeliner, I finally had to ask and it is permanent eyeliner. It is not the crazy black liquid liner look, but more like tight lining. One has a bit more of a thicker line on top, but still natural looking. She has had it for five years and swears it's the best thing she ever did. I love the idea of just getting a subtle "lash enhancement" tattoo done. I have dark hair, but my eyes look bare without eyeliner and mascara. I would love to be able to leave the house with just a coat of mascara and still feel put together. She can still wear more dramatic eyeliner when she wants to, so it doesn't stick you with one look forever.
I have seen good pics and horrifying pics. I am seriously considering making a consult appt with the woman who did theirs. have I lost my mind?
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
I'd love to have eyeliner done. I'm super blonde and it makes a big difference when I just have a little black liner. I'm probably too chicken though.
I am scared too. My coworker said her woman works in a doctors office. So they prescribed her a Xanax to take before the procedure and used numbing cream. If she started getting uncomfortable, they would stop and use more numbing cream. It seems like the drugs would make it less scary. Lol
Yes, and I want brows so freaking bad. I've only just now started to think about it, though. As a ginger my brows are nearly invisible if I don't colour them in. Finding the right colours to use is a PITA, almost everything is too ashy, too dark, or both. And since I can hardly even see the hairs in the mirror (due to the angle and the way they blend into surrounding peach fuzz) it's always an educated guess to colour them in. You'd think this means I don't have to worry about brow grooming, but you'd be wrong. Dammit.
Anyway, you aren't alone. The possibilities have come a loooooooong way since permanent makeup started, thank god.
I don't even know where to post an intro here! I was on TK/TN/TB since 2003, mostly local boards. I was m_and_m.

I've heard the same, although if I would do it, I'd hope by the time it is faded, my brows would have had a chance to grow back even more since the area that would be tattooed is an area that has to be waxed since there is a gap under the brow, and where more hair comes in.
My mother has a friend who did this- liner, brows and "blush".
It wasn't so bad when it was newly done, but the ink sort of got fuzzy and faded over time. And not symmetrically. She kind of looks like an old hag who got drunk and fell asleep in her makeup.
I had my eyebrows "tattoo'd" last year and I absolutely loved it! However, because I guess I was not diligent enough with my sunscreen (I wear 30spf daily), they did fade really quickly. I was going to get them touched up, as they suggest, but decided to get them tinted when/where I get my hair done.
I didn't want to spend $$$ and the time it takes to heal. I did love the results, but just wish that they lasted longer.

Most of the research I have done has shown that pigment migration over time is usually caused by incorrect types of ink being used. Immediate migration could be caused by meds someone is taking or an inexperienced application. But that's also why I am not committed to bottom lash line at all because I can't help but be nervous. I don't like lining the bottom anyways. It does help seeing my friends that was done in 2009 still looking perfect. She said her mother has had hers for about 8 years with no complaints. I don't think pigment migration always happens, but I know it's a risk.
I wouldn't want anything permanent on my face that I know could potentially move as I age either. I guess that's why lash line seems ok to me, and not other ones.
Be careful what you choose. I know someone that had royal blue eyeliner tattooed on her upper and lower eye lids. She probably had this done 20 years ago, it may have (I doubt it) looked good then but now it just looks very odd.
Yeah, I think my concern with any makeup tattoo is that style falling out of fashion. Brows are a good example of this - holy hell, have brows trends changed over the years. But same with eyeliner. What if, a few years from now, eyeliner fall out of fashion altogether and super naked eyes are the way to go? Stranger things have happened.
I'd just be too worried that trends or my own preferences would change. Plus, I like being able to totally adapt my makeup depending on the day/event/look/whatever that I want. Sometimes, that means I don't want any eyeliner! I like being able to play with makeup like that and I think I'd be frustrated being locked into anything permanent, no matter how subtle or well done.
Normally I would say hell no, but a friend who owns a lash salon started offering brow tattooing that look amazing and natural. They draw individual hairs! I'd like to do it on the parts I already fill in.
ETA- I guess it's called microblading
My hairstylist is having this done. She showed me some of the pictures on IG and I couldn't believe it. Those little pieces of hair look so realistic.

What was the cost like?
I think it was $450 and then a yearly touch-up is $175.
