DD1 (6.5) and DS (4.5) are in Britax Frontier seats. DD2 is in a convertible that I don't really like. The seats we liked were in an accident and at the time I replaced them with the Frontiers. If I want to get DD2 a new seat, is there any safety reason not to move her into a Frontier as well (as opposed to a different convertible seat)?? She is 36" tall (limit is 30") and I have to check her weight but I think she's about 5# over the minimum.
How old is she? If she's already forward facing there's no reason you couldn't put her in a frontier. Is your older daughter still harnessed? If not, I'd just get her a high backed booster & pass the frontier on.

Yeah, this is what I would do as long as she's 2+. If she's under 2 I would RF
Sorry, was away. Yes, DD2 is 2.5 and FF. DD1 is still harnessed. She could go just booster, but for long rides/sleeping I feel better with her still harnessed. The Frontier converts to a high-backed booster so I was planning to just keep DD1 in that same seat for a long time.

If DD2 is already FF then there's no reason to get a convertible seat. Any FF 5-point harness has to meet identical safety standards, so a frontier is no more or less safe than a convertible seat.
Have you tried your oldest using her frontier as a booster instead of harness? My girls have never had trouble sleeping in boosters. The first few late night trips we had H watch them and he had to prop one of them up once, but otherwise we told them to use the headwings on their dedicated boosters as pillows and that kept them fully in position. You might find your oldest does the same and you can pass down the frontier and save quite a bit of money!
Thanks, I will maybe try that!! I am going to wait another few months until DD3 is close to outgrowing her infant seat, so maybe by then I'll have a better idea of whether DD1 can just go booster..and pass her seat to DD2, and then I could either buy a new convertible for DD3 or just make do with the one we have until SHE would be old enough for the Frontier. Rotating car seats!

I'm a big fan of handing down when it's possible and safe! Given your kids ages it sounds like you could get a booster for DD1, pass the frontier to DD2 and assuming DD2s convertible isn't expired pass that to DD3 and only have to buy a new booster, which is the least expensive seat to buy!
