We went to the mall today to do a little shopping. We were eating in the food court...(yes, Egypt has malls and food courts, ) and I saw this man. To me, he looked like what I thought to be an Egyptian "thug". haha. I tried to take a photo of him nonchalantly, but really I was very obvious.
what are their malls like? are they like ours? with a gap, macy's, etc? how many american stores are there? are they chain-like stores? what's in the food court? how did you get to the mall? walk? bus? train? everything is SO FASCINATING!
No he didn't say anything. He was speaking Arabic....I am not sure if he could speak English or not. If he came at me speaking Arabic, I would have just stared and then walked away. Haha. so whatever.
Two of the girls I was with acting like I was taking a photo of them, and then I just took a photo of him...but they said I turned the camera a lot so it didn't even look like I was getting them. hahah. oh well.
I am going to put a blog up about the mall. But yes, there was a Claires, a Nine West, a Guess. They are putting in an H&M. They have Starbucks, Hardees, and KFC in the food court. No department stores. We took a taxi to the mall. And our taxi driver today actually spoke pretty good English. That was fun.
eta: this is a small mall. I was told today that there is another huge mall that has theaters in it and a whole bunch of stuff.
Yah, we love it here. Actually I forgot to mention that my second day, I got sick and had to go to the hospital. But it was just a bad case of food poisoning. I am on about 2 days away from being off the meds from it now. The hospital was great. And I got 5 prescriptions.....which came to a total of $10! haha. I plan to blog about that too.
Yah. Just other teachers from my school. The school brought in 6 teachers, including me, for this year. And there are two teachers we are talking to that were here before.
