So. In the new house I'm taking over the smallest bedroom (I don't have the dimensions off-hand but I think it's 8x10). When the house was built it was supposed to be a den, but it was used as a bedroom. ANYWAY, it's now going to be my closet/getting ready/makeup room. I have no idea what color to paint it. Not painting it is not an option. Usually I find a key piece for the room and get color inspiration from there, but I'm pretty blah about everything I've found.
Things of note: The vanity will be white as is one of the dressers. Another dresser is olive green (could paint), and the other is an antique dark wood (not going to paint that). There will also be a vintage metal wardrobe piece in the room (dark brown). The floor is a warm golden-ish wood.
I kind of feel like the color on the walls should be flattering to your coloring - be light so you can see well and doesn't cast weird colors. That's just my personal feeling.
And there should be a sparkly chandelier of some sort. That's just my opinion. And it is in direct contrast to my previous suggestion.

Yes, I'd avoid gray if you have it elsewhere - I am trying to get more color in our house b/c so far gray is also our default.
I really like this color - Mount Saint Anne by BM
I think it would look good with your white and dark brown furniture:
I also really like Navy, but I'm not sure I'd want it in a make-up dressing area. Maybe for the ceiling. I've shared this before, but I haven't done it to my room... it's what we want in our bedroom.
Or if you want to stick with more grays, how about a lavender gray? Purple still makes me think of ZB, so I thought of that first. The room below is "violet mist" or "lavender mist" from BM:

LOVE that color. I would do it gray. I am painting my makeup room gray too (Big Chill). And also my living room and hallway. But I'm doing coral and gray.
Hold on let me see if I have some photos on my phone.
It doesn't really matter that you're painting the living and hallway that color, but I think it's a nice color and that you should keep it light and neutral for doing makeup, so I would paint the room that color, also. I'd also paint the olive green dresser white so that it goes with a few of the other pieces and then all you have is white and dark brown furniture. Then, you obviously need a chandelier/hanging light fixture. I'm kind of in love with this one right now:
Or maybe something more befitting a dressing room, like this:
After that, I'd bring in pops of color with accessories. It really doesn't matter what color, but if it were me, I'd go with pink, because it's my favorite, so I would do these:
