I have an engagement ring that is tall. It often catches my pockets, etc. I have the total repair package from Za.les, and they will keep fixing the bent prongs on my center stone forever. It has happened around 2 times per year, and it is really annoying because I will be without my ring for weeks at a time. Would it be worth it to you to upgrade to a platinum head for the center stone. Depending on the cost, when would it outweigh the inconvenience of missing my ring, drop off and pick p for repair, etc.?
I had the head replaced on my e ring after the stone came loose a few times. Turns out the original head was too small for the stone so it had no tension to keep the stone in. It was about $300 as I recall (head and band are platinum). It was worth it for the peace of mind.

I would probably replace it--either with a platinum head as you said so that it won't bend as easily or (if possible) have it reset so it doesn't sit so high as to catch on things as much. Presumably, you'll be wearing this ring for a very long time, so I'd eliminate the frustration of having to keep getting it fixed.

I would most likely replace it. Having something that is constantly getting caught on things is annoying. Plus, like you said, having to get it repaired often is a huge inconvenience. You might be able to use the value of the metal on your existing ring to subset the cost. If not, be sure to get the metal back. Not sure if it is platinum or gold, but either way, it'll have value.

I just dropped it off for the repair, and the lady there said that platinum bends more easily than gold?! I am oing to take it to a more reputable place once I get it back bc that seems opposite of what I thought.
