I am having the dumbest argument with a French bank. I am trying to pay an artist for a film to screen on campus. We get her contract, send a check, fine. She emails back saying the bank won't take the check as it's forward-dated. I'm confused, our business office is confused, everything we see shows the check is dated June 11, 2015, when it was cut. Back and forth with the bank. Finally I get someone on the phone who is like, oh, so, in Europe we write the date Day/Month/Year, so your check says November 6, 2015. But, no, it doesn't. Because it's an American check and we write the date Month/Day/Year (which is admittedly stupid). Around and around and around. Now our business office is trying to finagle a way to trick the check system into actually forward-dating the check to November so that it will be cashed in France, but then re-trick the system into allowing the money to come out of my account. OMG JUST TAKE MY MONEY.
Ugh, I get your frustration. I work for a bank in the US that is owned by a Canadian bank and it can get so confusing sometimes with the way dates get written.
I feel like this must happen all.the.time. Why don't we just print checks with the month spelled out? Blerg.

Yeah, I feel like this is a problem that could be easily overcome but somehow isn't!

My vent - remember the word jumble thing for work? The words chosen- "Too Legit." This means, the person that won, CHNAGED THE NAMES OF THE CORE VALUES!" Had I known I could change one or too of the words I would have options. Although, "Get clit" will always have a place in my heart.
