I have no idea where I'm going this weekend, but it'll probably be one of those cities. We're using a friend's buddy passes and leaving tonight (hopefully). DH and I have never been to either city, so I have no idea what to do.
If we go to Seattle, we'll be going to the soccer game tomorrow night and that's the extent of our plans. We'll try to get out of town around 1pm on Sunday. If we go to DC, we'll be surprising DH's high school BFF for her 30th birthday and staying until Monday night.
Any recs for food and must see things?
I'm pretty excited we're doing this for our anniversary
Having been to Seattle a bazillion times and to DC only four times I vote DC!! I jump at any chance to visit our nation's Capital. So much history! I love it.

I'm such a history nerd, too! ugh.
But our friend giving us the buddy passes is going to Seattle too, so I feel bad! She was very open about us going anywhere we wanted but I think she wants us to go to Seattle. The other issue is we could go to DC Saturday morning to Monday night or Seattle tonight through Sunday, but flight loads look iff-y on Sunday coming back.
If you don't mind sharing, who are you flying on? Iffy flight loads would worry me on certain airlines, especially if you HAVE to be back on Monday. I've been flying standby for years, and 90% of the time it is great.

Frontier.
It might not be too bad then. If you would have said iffy flight loads on United, well, good luck with that. But Frontier is pretty good with not overselling seats. Also depends on what your friend considers iffy. If you do do Seattle (which I think I would aim for if it were me, longer trip!), and you really have to be back before Monday, I'd consider giving yourself at least two flights you can catch. It's a bummer to get to an airport early, but it's more of a bummer to not get on the flight.
If you do go to Seattle, and you find yourself at Pike's Market, try to get some Greek Yogurt from Ellenos. Best Greek yogurt I've ever had. I've considered taking a weekend trip to Seattle just to get some yogurt.

YESSSSSS. It is the best damn yogurt I've ever had.

I love DC, but it is going to be like 96 and humid this weekend, so I would probably pick Seattle ha ha (I live in DC). Oh, and it is tourist season so it is going to be pretty crowded everywhere. I never recommend visiting DC in the summer.
