h wants to go to the zoo tomorrow. i remember going as a kid when it was hot out, and i was miserable. i haven't been to the zoo in a while now..is it better? is there shade? i don't remember there being much shade.
BlackCanary - Point Defiance is a great zoo! I hope you have a good time.
Really? They have have made a LOT of improvements from when I went when I lived in Tacoma (8 years ago). It always depressed me because EVERY enclosure was TOO small and that poor enormous walrus thing was obviously so bored in his little lap pool.

I agree some enclosures are still too small, like the tigers, but I feel like most are pretty good. I don't know what it was like 8 years ago, but there have been a lot of changes in zoos across the country in the last 5 years to improve. 10-15 years ago, there were very minimal requirements for what you could call a zoo, but now, requirements are getting pretty strict. My uncle's a zookeeper.
tbh being outside beats being indoors on days like this. You get some geese, you can escape to the shade, etc. As long as you stay hydrated it's better.
