But they eat tons of bugs! Super great for murdering mosquitoes.
I'm writing in my when-I-die journal for DH and thinking of what he needs to think about for raising DD when she is a preteen, which is making me think about all the things that annoy me about him (mainly his utter inability to talk about or listen to anything he does not care about, like my work stories), which is now making me mad at him for no good reason, lol. Poor DH.
We've also had 3 different sets of guests today, and even though I like all of them, I've been in an antisocial mood and have been hanging out in my room whenever possible. I hope I'm better company tomorrow because we are tubing a local creek with some friends, which is usually one of my absolute favorite summer activities.

We ended up seeing Trainwreck. While waiting for me to get done at work, the person at the ticket booth told my friend it was sold out. So of course then we wanted to see it the most... she started playing with the little automatic kiosks and it told her it had tickets! So we bought those and went in and saw it. Weird. You'd think they person at the ticket booth would have the most accurate numbers on seats available.
I started a new project today. My niece said she wanted to be a mermaid for Halloween this year. I found this on pinterest and it looked so easy and cute. Of course she's already moved on to three other ideas already. But I did tell her she had until Sept to pick, and I figured this will be good for her dress up collection even if they go another direction for Halloween. It was only $20 and it will be easy to sew together (though I know now that organza is a PITA to work with). I started cutting the scales and laying them out to see the effect and it's so shiny and pretty I almost want one for myself.
I also finished the majority of the work on my cross stitch. All that's left is sky, which is just large patches of the same color in half cross-stitch so it will go faster. Yay!

So apparently VH1 does play music videos. I found this out because I woke up at 6 AM! The one day I don't set an alarm. Technically it's between 30 and 60 minutes later than normal but damn.

I love technology. Just saw my niece get a book scholarship from her church via their live stream. She already has a full academic scholarship. I'm a proud aunt.
Food holidays are either totally amazing (hello, donut day!) or completely obscure and annoying (looking at you, anisette day and turkey neck soup day). But when the celebrating includes free ice cream, we can totally get behind a made-up holiday like National Ice Cream Day, which falls on Sunday, July 19 this year. Check out where to score free cups and cones of America's favorite summer treat:
BASKIN-ROBBINS
Get a free waffle cone when you buy a double or triple scoop. Then hit the shop again on July 31, when all sundaes are 31 percent off.
CARVEL
Take part in a BOGO deal that includes any size soft serve ice cream in either a cup or cone.
FRIENDLY'S
On both Saturday and Sunday, all cups and cones are buy one, get one free. This is pretty sweet, especially because single scoops were just discounted to $1.99 and double scoops are only $2.99 exclusively for summer.
PETSMART
If you don't want to leave your pup out of the fun, head to a PetsHotel location near you for a cup of dog-friendly ice cream on the house from noon to 4 p.m.
The news has really stunted my writing this summer, for a number of reasons. So, I had a writing weekend with a friend. I think I might be back on track.
You know what's harder than putting together ikea furniture? Putting it together in a 100 year old house with titled floors. I can't get the damn holes to line up without prodigious use of shims
I'm hoping it's just gas even if id be very embarrassed. That's preferable to any other cause I can think of.
Eta. Inconclusive. Burst ovarian cyst plus "prominent" appendix, so they can't rule that out. Because of that I can't get anything stronger than Advil. At least they gave me the option to go home and maybe come back tomorrow.
Mile 1071 of our 1090 mile road trip home from meeting family. Fortunately we learned the dog is a natural at 8-hr days in the car. Can't wait to see what's grown in the garden this week!
House went on market Thursday. 6 showings from Friday through today. 3 gave feedback, one indicating they are considering an offer. That would be great so we aren't carrying 2 mortgages.
One said we need new carpet. Um yeah, DUH. That is why there is a big note on the counter telling you we are offering a carpet allowance for the bedrooms.
I know this is a petty complaint. 6 showings in 3 days is pretty fortunate.

I'm watching a show on travel channel called Big, Crazy Family Adventure or something, about a family that travels around the world with their two little boys (maybe 6 and 3yo?). The father is a photojournalist who has traveled a lot for his work. Not sure yet on the background on the mom. The boys are named Bodhi and Taj, two names that I love but think are awfully culturally appropriated for white Americans (I actually know several small Bodhis! Boulder hippie parents). I'm amazed how well these kids are doing with strange foods etc, but I'm sure they aren't airing the worst of their cranky meltdowns. I'm glad to see a new travel show though. I get sick of TOP TEN BIKINI BEACHES etc on travel channel, and am glad to see some real travel.

Good luck
After bitching yesterday our buyer slept on it & came back with a better offer. We are under contract!
