So I buy grapes, potatoes and apples organic. I did a big shopping and didn't realize until I got home they charged me for non-organic price. It ended up being $6 cheaper due to their error. Wdyd--go back and pay for the correct item or forget about it?
Kind of a disclaimer here. If it was a larger grocery store my answer would be a fun no, but we have two small independently owned places I might mention it next time I go in.
Nope, I wouldn't mention it. But I've also been overcharged by that much before when the cashier put in the wrong code and I didn't go back for a refund. I figure it all evens out somehow.
Since it's pretty difficult to keep an eye on the screen the whole time while trying to pack and occupy DS, I usually try to scan my receipt before leaving the store, though. Recently, instead of giving me credit for my reuseable bags, the cashier managed to charge me for a $12 plant, so I went to customer service to get that refunded.
I probably wouldn't go back if I was undercharged or overcharged because I wouldn't want to load DD back in the car and wait on line again. I rarely check my receipts though or remember the price of each item in my cart.
I probably wouldn't unless I noticed right away. Most of the employees at these bigger stores don't seem to care. A few months ago I left a small box of prepared food next to DS in the top part of the cart and hadn't paid for it - I noticed as we were leaving so told the manager behind the desk at customer service and she gave me this exasperated look like seriously, just go.

I generally consider myself an honest person, but I would not go back to pay the difference, nor would I bother to go in and argue if they had overcharged me the $6 instead.
DH used to be like this. It was so annoying. He has since relaxed.
It doesn't really bother me too much. I just shove the receipts in a box in the closet. I am super disciplined and like goals.
It's not the goals I hated, it was just so annoying if I misplaced a receipt. I wasn't overspending, just bad at keeping 100% of my receipts 100% of the time.
I immediately throw away my receipt on the way out or else it stays in the bottom of my purse for a year. If I did notice I wouldn't take it back.
My dh is a controller so he makes me save receipts. He runs our finances like a business. Lol
Oh hell no. I would be so irritated by this. Like, receipts for EVERYTHING? I'm married to an accountant and honestly, if he did this he would be doing all the shopping alone and I'd be taking out cash and he could mark it however he wants in the register.

Yep. I keep them in a zippered compartment in my purse as I go and have a reminder stored in my phone for Saturday mornings to put them in the receipt box. Ridiculously easy and doesn't irritate me in the slightest.
Dude my h would be so fucking annoyed if I gave him receipts. Everything's online don't we all have Internet?! Wtf.
It must be pms but the title of this post annoyed me. Like I'm not some dishonest butthole if I don't check my receipt and/or do and it's wrong but zomg don't go back to fix it with all my free time (sarcasm font). Right?? Surely we agree it's less about honesty and more about laziness and/or ambivalence.
Why? Is it a budget thing or for taxes or what? Because if it is a budget, can't he just look it up online?
Budget. We tried the software (quicken, mint) but it didn't always import to right area. Plus we could spend $200 at target with $100 for home improvement, $50 grocery, etc etc that the debit card number alone might not be helpful. He prefers to do it old school.

Don't be offended. I definitely have found I've had looser morals than many here based on past convos so I was wondering if I was in the wrong to not go back. Truthfully I probably wouldn't have even if the masses did but I was just curious how others would have handled.
Am I the only one who doesn't check the receipt? I will if it seems really off but not every time. I know I should, I'm just lazy I guess?
But no I wouldn't go back.
I always check my receipts. Both of the stores I frequent give you the full refund if the that was priced incorrectly and you get to keep it. I find mistakes all the time. I also shop often enough that I primarily buy items on sale, if it is not bolded then it is not ringing up sale price. Easy catch.
