LOL. We went to Portland in October for our anniversary, and had breakfast there. I took this IG pic there. It was a tiny place, I would have taken my screaming kid out of there in a hot second. The muffins were pretty damn delicious. .

I don't go here, but I would like to start.
I try like all hell to quiet my kids in a restaurant, and have taken them out the few times there was a meltdown. Always have the phones and/or iPads just in case, let the kids eat a half a lot of bread if it shuts them up. So I agree -- do something. But almost all parents I see out are doing the same, and for a small minority of people there is zero leeway when it comes to kids doing anything more than sitting in complete silence.
But my first thought after reading that post and watching that video -- there is no way in hell I am buying that the diner owner is accurately portraying what was going on because she is nuts.

Does taking your child(ren) outside calm them down? My daughter feels punished and just ramps up further. I get taking your kid outside so they aren't ruining everyone else's meal, but it usually makes the situation worse for me and my kid.
I also am on team not believing the child cried for 40 minutes straight. That's . . . intense.

Yes because majority of the time when she gets to that point, she doesn't want to be in the high chair at the table and wants to walk. So for us it does help, it's where she actually wants to be.

I can totally believe a child cried that long. I'm not a reliable source as I don't have kids, but I've witnessed tantrums lasting well over 30 minutes.
