Mark Cuban is an ass, but he's spot on with this. Damn you Trump for making me agree with something Mark Cuban has said.
yea, but i approve this message...he's no where near as big an ass as The Donald.
FWIW, Cuban is still wrong- Generally Net worth = Assets - Liabilities. So if you own an $10B painting/building/business & owe $11B, then your net worth is NEGATIVE.

His point is while you may own a painting or building worth ten billion, you'd have to find a buyer willing to pay that first. I imagine his buildings are owned by corporations and partners and what not, and he can't simply sell them on his own initiative to raise the cash for the campaign.
oh I agree that he was talking about the importance of cash vs. assets, but I also think that that ne tworth (including liabilities) is particularly relevant to any arguments Trump wants to make about being a billionaire.

Trump Exaggerating His Net Worth (By 100%) In Presidential Bid
Regardless, the average Trump supporter likely doesn't understand or care about financial nuance. I love Mark's point that no one will donate to a candidate with ten billion in the bank.
I am not an expert at all, but here's what I've gathered - people either love or hate Mark Cuban.
Love:
Started as a low level worker (I think maybe even bartended on weekends or something), worked in computer sales and was fired, started his own company and sold for millions, started another company and sold it to Yahoo for billions, then sold ALL of his Yahoo stock for billions just before the big crash. Lucky and thoughtful in business. Seems pretty self-made (as much as a college-educated guy from Pittsburgh's middle class can be), so people like that. Stars in Shark Tank and continues to invest in start-up business. Bought, turned around, and is passionate about the Dallas Mavericks - even blogs about it and sits with fans on the court. He also continues to invest in larger projects and innovative tech stuff.
Hate:
Says a lot of controversial stuff - mostly about other famous or rich people. Those that like him think he is just, "telling it like it is." For example Cuban said, Kobe Bryant's sexual assault case was, "great for the NBA. It's reality television, people love train-wreck television, and you hate to admit it, but that is the truth, that's the reality today." He also trash talks refs, players, and other team owners and continues to get lots of fines from the NBA for his comments.
Cuban also defended some baseball players drug-related suspensions saying they were too much and should have been shorter.
But I think his biggest offense that I remember was when he tweeted or blogged about how he moves to the other side of the street from black kids in hoodies. He later apologized, but I think it was like, "Sorry, I offended people especially Trayvon Martin's family, I try to check my prejudice, but whoops."
