my BFF's mom died this morning. she was a nutter but she was basically my second mom for a lot of my youth. my parents were a little jacked with their priorities and i basically lived there for a while when my parents were sorting their shit out.
I am swamped with work for grad school. I have 2 presentations, a 5 page paper, a 20 page paper, a "letter to my reps" kind of paper, plus all the reading, over the next 4 weeks.
I am stressed from car buying. I want to buy NAOW! Even though statistics say I should wait until August and indeed the latter part of August.
I'm so, so excited about a hybrid I found. But I like the look of 2 other cars better than the hybrid, and the hybrid is white, and I don't really want white, but this hybrid is rare and is a fabulous hybrid. Is that stupid to be concerned about colors and looks?

the way you ask that makes me think my priorities for a car are wrong.
Fat Tuesday related, but I didn't want to make another thread - Last night in grief group many of the ladies shared that they're worried about their husband's health, and it makes them irritated and short with their husbands since they don't put a priority on cleaning up their lives. That it comes from a place of fear of losing someone else that they love.
DH was with me, and heard what they were saying, and I think finally understands why I'm so frustrated with him and his weight. Maybe something will change now. He can't keep eating his grief.

Not stupid. You have to live with it for the next 10 years.
Mental health day. C is home with me because I feel guilty about how it affects DHs routine when I stay home. So not completely relaxing, but better than work.

I tried a new sprint HIIT treadmill workout this morning. It calls for a 30 second sprint on 9, which is WAY faster than I can think about running, but I thought I could handle it for 30 seconds.
I felt like I was in a cartoon and came THISCLOSE to flying off the treadmill.

You probably don't need advice on fitness and weight because you enjoy running and such, but I will share what worked for my DH who just lost 50#.
I have been frustrated with him for years because of his eating. First, overweightness runs in his family. Second, diabetes runs in his family. Third, because when I met him his body was hot and he just abused it over the past few years. But he was very arrogant about it all because his grandma is 98 and in perfect health, lives alone, etc so he figures he has forever to live, too. And so he was fucking ridiculous and downright gross about portion control. Gross about it. And his family is very, very food-oriented because they entertain a lot so they are always talking about food, planning menus, etc. it has been a source of frustration for me for years.
His aunt did a fitness challenge, so the competition motivated him, plus the winner got the money from the contest.
his work has a small gym, and he started going every day at lunch.
We are hockey fans, so he designed routines to watch during the playoffs. He would ride his exercise bike and every time the whistle blew, he would get off and do burpees. Every power play, he would do something like jumping jacks or air squats. It was like a fun game he played with himself to the "tune" of hockey games. Then he bought a sauna suit and did it all in that.
he bought a bike off craigslist. (You guys probably have awesome places to ride where you live!). He found little ways of working it in, like when my car had to get detailed insidedue to an... unfortunate incident, he threw the bike in the back, drove to the place, rode back, then rode back later to pick it up. Little lifestyle ideas.
he used that My Fitness Planner (Pal?) religiously.
I got him a Fitbit Surge for his birthday. He lurves it.
the biggest thing was portion control. That part, well, he just made himself deal with for the sake of the contest. But I did some work on that end (see below) when it came to cooking.
he switched to fruit breakfasts (sometimes in a protein shake).
My contribution was to the cooking. I do it mostly anyway, and I've always been a pretty healthy cook so there wasn't a lot to change. But I would make a bit less. Buy smaller cuts of fish. Divide large packs of chicken into even smaller packages than normal to cook just enough for each of us to get one thigh. Stopped making rice. Or I would make extra and then just immediately pack the extras as a lunch for him before bringing dinner to the table.
You probably didn't need all this, but I wanted to share what worked for him over the course of 3 months because he felt great about himself and I am really proud of him!
I'm in another Awbrey Daniels based training. I am so annoyed with this guy.
The hybrid is the Audi Q5.
the ones I like the look of more are the Nissan Murano and the Acura MDX.
I had better not get any SUV shit in here. We have a boat and a lake house that we have to haul shit to like power tools every weekend for half the year.
I remembered all the veggies for my salad today but forgot the chicken, cheese, and dressing. I can't decide if I should just get protein from the salad bar or go with a completely different lunch.
He can lose the weight. He's won two weight loss challenges in consecutive years (he gained weight in the "off season" of the challenges). He does it pretty easily. He knows all about portion control, what exercises to do and when, etc. His problem is disordered eating and mental health. I keep asking him to see a therapist, and he's resistant. If he could get the mental portion down, I think he'd be fine.
Tonight DH and I are going to see Sublime. I've been a fan since middle school (but with Bradley Noel as singer) so I'm very excited to finally see them.

This is super petty. Our facilities people every single day move my trash & recycle bins. Never to a consistent spot, but often my recycling ends up in the place i put the trash. I'm starting to think they're messing with me.

It's a crossover, not an SUV. I say this as a hybrid crossover owner.
