so i messaged 2 of my childhood friends about my BFF's mom and now we're in a chat. i am DYINGDYINGDYING to ask the dude if he's gay but i won't because that's rude BUT I WANT TO ASK SO BADLY!!!!
I got tagged into a ML thread about Wawa hoagies. I'm irrationally annoyed that somebody who actually frequents a Wawa insists on calling them subs. THEY'RE HOAGIES.
Also the level of food snobbery displayed by some people over there is a little much for even me. Ewww, it's a GAS STATION.
yes. But it's good. Also good? Royal Farms chicken. Turkey Hill ice cream and iced tea. Sheetz pretzel rolls. Just because your stupid state can't do gas stations food right doesn't mean we're doing it wrong. (royal farms is Maryland, not PA, but whatever. MD tries to claim Utz as their own, so I'm taking Royal Farms.) The region just has this awesome thing where we've got brands that make good shit - but also happen to have retail stores that are also gas stations. Consider it the consolation prize for having to drive on our shitty roads.

My mama is like a royal farms evangelist. There is one moving in somewhere close to/in Philly apparently, and her friends were all "fuck you this is Wawa territory!!" and she was like, "But the chicken! Trust me. There is room for all these good things in our fine city." I've seen several FB exchanges about it, which cracks me up.

I have a First World Problem - I have hit that point in the summer where I am irrationally mad at people who don't have to work all summer and I can't complain about it IRL.
I have lots of friends/family that are teachers or SAHPs and about 2 months into summer I always get to the point where I want to hide them b/c I get so little vacation, have to squeeze summer fun into evenings and weekends only and my busiest parts of the year are July-September and December. So while other people vacation and relax, I often am stressed or taking my phone camping even on a Saturday. Plus, I have a hard time even getting the motivation to do much in the evenings. If another teacher posts a "this is why I work so hard during the school year" meme, I might lose it on them. Oh and don't give me crap about pay - I am in the most underpaid science/engineering area and make only $7k more in my 12 months compared to a teacher in our distract with 13 years experience and a Masters (same as me) - so stop the stupid memes and just enjoy your summer off without the reminder on FB or by inviting me to a lake on a Wednesday morning, when we all acknowledge that you were smarter than me in your career choice for going into education.
ETA: Brought to you by a sister who decided last night to drive two states over "for a week or so" because she can and two friends who have invited me to go to the lake and "relax" during weekdays. In addition to one posting this and a comment about how she "earned her lake time" on FB:
I have a consult with my tattoo artist on Thursday, and I keep going back and forth on how picky/specific I want to be on my tattoo idea. Either I can go down to the species level or stick with the genus. Decisions...
downtoearth If it makes you feel better, I'm just as annoyed by the people who keep wanting school to start so their kids can go back to school.
And I'm pretty sure no one would say the "smarter" career choice is education, vacation time aside.
I know, I'm totally irrational and jealous right now. I don't want school to start earlier or go all-year, and teachers and scientists/engineers in the environmental field should both be paid more b/c we are doing good stuff, but I really want a European model of vacation where the country shuts down for August or something and we all just accept that we need down time. Pipe dreams on beautiful days during conference calls from hell.

When I was little, we used to stop at Wawa on the way home from the beach, and they had these potato logs (wedges) that must have been made with crack. They stopped making them years ago. Then, Royal Farms shows up and, miracle of miracles, their western fries are EXACTLY like the potato logs I remember.
We stopped at one on the way to OCMD last week, and the huge box of wedges that DH and I split made up for extra hour of traffic we sat in for no reason.
people are being gross on our town's FB page about a new apartment complex that was just approved. a lot of shrieking about taxes and the schools and letting "those people" in town and section 8 and all this shit. one woman, who i have pegged as a crazy grandma type, has been posting for DAYS about some law that Obama is going to make happen that every town/village/city will HAVE to accept section 8 and low income housing or or or or.........
and i want to post so bad but i just hold my tongue.
all the while the new subdivision of the same number of units as the apartment complex just started building but its totes ok bc the houses are 500k (nevermind the rent on these apartments are 1k a month)
SET IT FREEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Do it. And then screenshot it for us.

I saw that wawa post last night and was so confused at first. I thought you had some amazing recipe you shared one time. Figured out it was some kind of chain place I've never heard of before. I just figured out sue sue is a reference to the show The Middle too. There's probably a lot of user names that go over my head.
I've just rediscovered Netflix and Netflix streaming. Getting all caught up on my movie queue. I watched Wet Hot American Summer (stupid but funny. Good cast. Love Paul Rudd.) and My Week With Marilyn (loved) last night.

It is actually my IRL nickname. My baby sister's toddler version of my legal name came out as Wawa. This amused my mother - because of the store - so that version stuck. It's been my name ever since I was 6 or so. I only use my legal name at work. Everybody else calls me Wawa.

The police are investigating a suspicious death of a woman in the parking garage at my office. I'm at home today but not getting much work done because I NEED MORE INFORMATION. My stomach is in knots with questions and wanting to know who it is. And walking to my car at insane hours is never going to feel the same:(

Is there any way you can at least post this to the city or tag a city official or reference the time when these people could have already gone to the City Council meeting to discuss this. Then you're passing the buck a little, but also sort of saying, "It's legal and approved by your own council - back off!"

I just got back from my physical. I think it my be my last visit with my doctor. I love him and his practice. I drove two hours to old city for the appt. We both agreed, I need to find someone local for emergencies and such, as I have too many things going on, and don't want to use urgent care as a resource if something comes up. I may still keep him for my physicals though, since it's just once/per year.
Bonus, they now have healthy snacks for patients when they check out. This is especially helpful, after you've fasted all night.
My BP was good. My A1c was meh.
I think I need an accountability partner. mryrcn You volunteered before, and I may have to take you up on it!
I just called a new dentist for an appointment about some pressure in my back molar with a filling. She doesn't have anything until next Thursday. Ok, fine, it's pressure, not pain. Well now, not 20 min later, it's worsening. Ugh. I don't want to go back to my old dentist because I think he messed up my fillings (already replaced 2 within a month of them being done since they never cured).

Girl I'm happy to help. It keeps me inline as well.
I'm trying to cut cable but my only option for internet in my area is Comcast, and if I get highspeed internet (needed to stream all the stuff we want) with no cable it's still really expensive, can't get a deal unless we go to a lower speed. It won't save us any money to cut cable and go to streaming services only. Boo.

Ooh... Shen i worked downtown there was a body found on the railroad tracks right behind my office. I spent most of the day watching CSI do what they do. And then contemplate getting new pepper spray.
