My boyfriend and I just broke up tonight for almost the exact same reason. It's the first time I've ever broke up with someone I so badly did not want to break up with. It's so shitty and I am so sorry you are feeling this hurt. I really like what the therapist wrote to you- it's so very true. It's very hard to walk away even when it's for the best. That's pretty cool! I might look into it. I have to switch therapists because mine is on a hiatus from work and it's been impossible to get an email or a call back to make an appointment.

I think this is good for you. I love the way that was worded. The therapist is right. You just stood up for yourself and yourself worth. That is something to be proud of. You are sad right now because break ups are sad. It doesn't make you weak or wrong or anything. It makes you human. Knowing you did the right thing doesn't make it hurt any less. I love you. Take care of you- at which you are already doing a great job.

Sometimes we need to hear the same thing from different sources to really let it sink in. You know if always be on your side, so hearing the same thing from an outside party who doesn't have any friendship/loyalty motives makes total sense.
