Does anyone else with long hair shed a lot? My hair is the longest it's ever been - about 6 inches past my shoulders - and I can't believe how much I shed. It's especially bad when I comb it out after showers. I don't have thin hair and I'm not really worried about how much I shed, I just wonder if this is normal when having longer hair.
My hair is about the same length as yours and my hair is basically everywhere. It's kind of gross but yes, I lose a lot of it. I also have two daughters with long hair so our house is hair city. I think it's just more noticeable with long hair.
I think it's more noticeable when you have long hair, but you probably shed about the same as when your hair was shorter. I lose a lot (I think) after a shower too, keeping it conditioned well helps so there's less pulling, but it's normal to lose some hair. I read that the average person can lose about 50 hairs a day. Crazy, huh?
My hair was chin length for a long time and then I decided to grow it to shoulder length. I notice more shedding, but not a lot more. (During the growth process, when I didn't cut it for a long time, I was shedding all the time and large amounts.)
I think it's just more noticeable when it's long. Funny (and gross) story, we recently had to have our shower floor redone because of a leak. The plumber apparently found the biggest hair ball he'd ever seen in our drain. He even made DH go look at it, and apparently the plumber and the tile guy had a hard time figuring out which one of them was going to dispose of it +o(
I have long hair, and tons of shedding. Between me, the cats, and the dog, the carpets need to be vacuumed often, and fills up really quickly.
Similar to PP, our shower drain slows every few months. My husband has to pull out the drain filter, dispose of a huge clump of long hair, and we're good as new.
It's a drawback of having long, flowing, beautiful hair :-)

I leave a trail wherever I go. It's awful. I usually apologize if I'm at someone's place for a night and brush my hair lol. And my hair isn't thin by any means but it's close to halfway down my back and I shed more than my dogs.
