I guess we were wrong assuming no priest would turn someone away from receiving communion. A man was denied communion at his mother's funeral. The priest said it was because he is married outside of the church but the man says it is because he is in a same sex marriage.

That's awful. But I mean, he is one priest. Itnisnt surprising there are priests who overstep and are assholes. The archbishop of the diocese did personally apologize so it isn't like the church condones the behavior.
And it was obviously bs because you can be married in another religion and have your marriage blessed by the church. I'm sure it was bigotry.
On a side note, there are usually like 3 or 4 people giving out communion at church. Wonder if he told them all beforehand to withhold from all the gays?
I know! I was so floored when I saw that. At his mother's funeral! Who even knows who's marriage is properly blessed?
I was glad to see the Bishop apologized. This is under our same arch diocese and the Bishop has always seemed progressive( as a Catholic in the south can be).
