DD2's blood work came back "beautiful." Just a slight iron deficiency which I should take care of with more "beef and spinach." No celiac and no allergies. I'm happy that everything looks great and relieved but at the same time I wish I knew why she gets constipated. I'm so tired of cleaning a million diapers with only a little bit of poop all damn day. Maybe I'm just an idiot who needs to realize that all kids are different. DD1 just had one poop a day, in the potty, done.
I think that's great news! I'm sorry you're struggling with that, though. I really have no experience with it, but I'm sure there are some things you can try, homeopathic, etc. I wonder if there's any chance she'll just grow out of it in time?
I do hope she just grows out of it. Part of me thinks she's one of those that doesn't like to poop so she holds it in and that's what causes the issues. From the day she was born she obviously hated the feeling of pooping.

You're definitely not an ass. While it's great that everything came back normal, it's not wrong to wish for answers.
DD was like that. She got constipated once she became aware of having bowel movements. She's grown out of it now but she needed a large dose of miralax for 2 years on order to poop regularly. We also had to really limit dairy.

Oh interesting. Glad to hear she grew out of it. The doc suggested we try to limit dairy and see what happens after she's been on Miralax again for a couple weeks.

Did you do blood work or biopsy for celiac? Kids with celiac who are young are commonly missed by blood test. My board certified pediatric GI doc at a children's hospital actually wouldn't test my ds with stomach issues and family history for celiac via blood because it was that unreliable. I would probably play around with elimination diets (with a nutritionist of course) and see if any work.

DD is day trained and as soon as I put here diaper on for bed, she poops. Without fail, every night. She holds it in so she can go in her diaper. I think some kids don't like to go for whatever reason.

Blood test. Yea, the doc we saw is one of the top pediatric GI specialists in the area and she mentioned several times, without me even asking, that she thinks the blood test is reliable. I think she told me it was 85% in a kid DD2's age. So yea, there's still a 15% chance it's wrong. The doctor says she's very confidant. But she won't (and I don't want to) do a biopsy at this age so yea, it's kind of a wait and see. I think I will play around with eliminating dairy and gluten because I do feel like she was doing better following the week or two where I tried to cut out gluten. I feel like dairy is going to be much harder to cut out for my family.

Yeah, we have never done a biopsy either nor do I care to. It would be the only way to accurately prove dd has it but I'm good enough with the blood test and the fact dd pukes when she's accidentally exposed to gluten. If you plan on doing the diet my only advice would be to try one, give it 6-8 weeks then try the other. Sometimes the diets do take a while to see a full affect and you wouldn't want to eliminate one that actually isn't making a huge difference. We found my dd can't do whole milk but can do lactose free like cheddar cheese. Good luck; I hope you find something that helps!!
