Isn't he like my age lol? Probably a gender thing more than age.
You're probably right. He's 37 (I'm 30). He's much more the Animal House, Goonies, Caddyshack kind of guy. But when we moved in together we discovered we both had copies of Clueless and Sweet Home Alabama. Hahaha. He'll kill me if he finds out I told people that.
Josh Lucas earned his spot on the Island of Hot Joshes because of Sweet Home Alabama.
My H knows nothing about 90s pop culture because he spent most of the decade stoned lol.
I think American Pie was better than She's All That or 10 Things I Hate About You if we are comparing 90s movies. But I have never seen Center Stage or Varsity Blues.
Nope, don't hate the poor. Pretty much grew up poor, and hated being poor. Worked a lot of hours, went to college as an adult, and have tried my hardest to better my life. I'm doing pretty good now, but day care has been a bit of sticker shock. I posted something that I wouldn't never admit to IRL, but thought it would be fitting on a UO/Flameful thread....you know, having the safety to hide being the interwebz.
UO threads are not flame free. You ate welcome to post unpopular things but don't be surprised when folks call you out. Yes there are ppeople who abuse the system most don't. Plus be lucky for your 1k a month you could be me about to pay 3500.
The only movies mentioned in this thread that I've seen are She's All That, 10 Things and Save the Last Dance. I lead a sheltered movie upbringing. Also had to watch a lot of action because of my brother and dad.
Everyone on this board would be horrified by our finances. Bad college choices($$$) and dropping out followed by years of retail= not good.
I feel like Roseanne is tame compared to a lot of the t.v. today... Even the things marketed to teens and Tweens on ABC family. But, my parents basically banned nothing. I saw my first rated R movie in the theater (the Last of the Mohicans) when I was 7. I am probably tainted.
I totally agree.
And we have no cable in our house either. My kids see next to nothing of "real" TV these days (thanks googleplay and hulu). For no real reason than it's all crap anyways.
Even as an adult I think most TV is crap. I'm so behind on current pop culture as a result MMM would be appalled. I just don't care.
Bring me back Home Improvement, TGIF and other fun but still funny shows anyday.
Speaking of Josh Hartnett, I had many an 18-year-old fantasies of being the meat in a Josh Hartnett/Ben Affleck sandwich after Pearl Harbor came out. Damn.
Damn.
Josh Hartnett grew up next door to one of my dad's best friends. When he got famous, I yelled at my dad for not taking us over to Curt's house more frequently. Worst dad ever.
I've never seen Pretty In Pink. Do as many people think I'm missing out on that as Clueless?
I think not based on the average age of the board. I haven't seen most 80s "classics" but am generally good for the 90s.
glitzy07, I think you are missing out, but then again the scandalous film my mom took me and a friend to when I was 11 was Footloose (1984).
I had already graduated college and was living with my boyfriend when Clueless came out. I watched it one night when my boyfriend was at Film Club (He was still in school) watching something pretentious.
Do you know how many episodes of Robot Chicken I've watched, just to hear his voice? That is my true confession. Don't let the sophistication fool you. Like a 13 year old boy, I love Robot Chicken! (wilted)
I'm so surprised by this but it makes me like you more!
I do not have particularly strong feelings either way about Sound of Music or the Princess Bride. I certainly don't hate either, but I don't love them like some people do.
I have a newer movie (comparatively) that everyone loves and I can't stand. And I'm nervous to admit it because it's going to move me on @natariru's list.
It's Anchorman.
I fucking HATE that movie! I walked out of it wanting those two hours of my life back.
I think I might pay $450 for a full wrap conversion tula instead of buying a double stroller. It is a conversion of my favorite wrap AND I've been dying for a full wrap buckle carrier.
My confession is that I'm insanely jealous of this.
