Last year my sister had her 5 year old's party from 6-9:00. It was a huge PITA considering we drive to downtown Chicago for it. We got caught in a snow storm on the way back. We left the house at 3:30, and got home at 11:00. Well, she just texted a "save the date". It's again going to be at night. Why not a daytime event? I know, I know…not my party. I need to just smile and nod. But I don't want to do that. I'd rather vent here. My twins are almost 5 but they are still very much morning kids…which means by 7:00 they are done. Case in point, my son fell asleep for the night at 5:50 today. No point to this I guess. Just bitching.
Why the heck does she do them so late? I could maybe see a party from 6-7. But 6-9? Nope. My kids go to bed at 6:30 and they would be a hot mess by 7. I very rarely keep them up late
Is it a kid (friend) centered birthday party or is it a family dinner? We do family dinners but no one has to drive that far. We definitely do friend parties earlier.
Hopefully your kids will have so much fun they won't be too cranky.
Yea, that is really annoying, especially since you have a drive. My kids also are in bed at 6:30ish, and while they actually do okay that night out, the next day can be rough.
I'm all for earlier bedtimes but my kids (4.5 and 6.5) can hang once in a while for a special occasion. If her kid is older than 4 or 6, I don't see the problem (except that your kids go to bed early and you have to drive there).
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
