On the job I applied to a month ago... There are 3 subsections within the department. Each subsection has a supervisor and they all report to the same manager. The supervisors are 99% in charge of interviewing and hiring. I'm not sure which subsection the opening is in. There is a supervisor over there that I have dealt with frequently and have met in person once. She used to send a Christmas card to everyone in our department, but the past 2 years, she has only sent one addressed to me with a note inside (addressed to me) thanking me for all of my help and blah blah blah. I thought about reaching out to her to ask if she knew about the opening, but I'm not sure if that would actually help any. All 3 supervisors know my name and I work with all of them, so I doubt she could help me get an interview. Should I reach out to her? I'm leaning towards no. I don't want to embarrass myself. I feel like if they wanted to interview me, they would have by now. They interviewed my coworker within a week of her applying for a similar (but lower rank) role.
I got a call today to set up an in person interview for next week. They want me to plan to be there for at least 4 hours; I haven't interviewed in 7 years! Totally nervous and excited.
