Someone I know has a major blood clot

that stretched from her calf almost to her chest. It was the largest clot her doctors have ever seen. She had surgery to remove it and is in the ICU for a few days, but is doing well.

She is only 29. They think it was caused by her birth control.

So scary! Did she have any symptoms before she went to the dr?

My last clot went from my upper hip down past my knee. The doc said he's seen them from the ankle up through the hip, across and down the other leg.

I'm glad they caught it. That's seriously scary. Depending on her genetic tests, hopefully her siblings get tested too. They ended up testing my sister and she's okay. I was the 'winner' of that specific genetic lottery.

I don't know. She's a FB friend that I know through someone else. I haven't seen her in person in a few years.

Her family needs to be tested for clotting disorders. After my diagnosis both my sisters were tested and we all have it.

So scary! I'm glad she's doing well. Both of my clots followed long hospitalizations and were teeny tiny in comparison, but scary nonetheless.

Not sure. All info comes from what she posted on FB. She did say today she is released from ICU but is still in the hospital for a few nights for observation, and she has to go on blood thinners for the next few months with weekly blood tests.
