The skiphop ones are adorable. The lunchboxes are a good size. The backpacks are really small if she has to carry much; DS2 still uses his to carry toys around. We still use the lunchbox for daycare and camp every day.
We have an Olive Kids one for C now and I love it. It's bigger than the Skip Hop but he can still wear it comfortably and the fabric is more durable. And the patterns are really cute! They have them on Amazon.
I feel like lunch boxes get gross and are fairly disposable. Meaning, I'm not looking for one to handle heavy use for more than a year. DD only packed three days a week last year and her Disney store one is doing alright. I let her pick out a new one at target and plan to rotate between the two since she's going five days a week this year.
Backpacks, even the cheap ones at target are like $15. Ll bean's junior bag, which I intend to have them use and last through preschool and maybe 1st-2nd grade, is only $25 and cheaper if you catch a sale. I find it's worth it and I know the company will stand behind it if the zipper breaks etc.
My ds had a set from this website. Not sure how prices compare, as we got them as gifts. The backpack lasted for 3 years of preschool, the lunchbox two years. They get grimey.
