Does anybody know if there are rules or regulations about having a fire pit in your backyard for the cityof Seattle? I've searched online but haven't found anything. Of course im not searching all that hard.
Recreational fires are allowed under the following conditions:
– No air quality burn ban is in effect.
– The fire is not more than three feet in diameter and two feet in height.
– The fire is located at least 25 feet from any structure or combustible material. Conditions which could cause a fire to spread shall be eliminated prior to ignition.
– Trash, yard waste, rubbish, or paper products are not being burned.
– Fire extinguishing equipment is readily available for use. This should include a shovel and two buckets of water, or a charged garden hose or fire extinguisher with a 4-A rating.
– The fire is continually attended by an adult until it is completely extinguished.
On the topic: H really keeps mentioning that he wants a fire pit. I don't really want yet another permanent structure in the yard (I don't think he's thought about having to navigate the lawn mower around another thing) but I'd be totally cool with one of those raised metal ones. Considering if I should get that for him for his birthday present, I figure a lot of them will go on sale here in a little bit with summer-end clearance. What do y'all think?

I really want one of these, but like uw said, will you really use it? (Do these fall under the 25ft rule too?)
They don't follow the 25' rule. This is similar to what we have, we've had it 2 1/2 years and used it maybe a dozen times.
