What is the taxi situation at the airport? Are they just out there waiting for people or do you actually have to call for one? I am MEGA cheap and figured out if we rent our car form a location off of the airport and return it to the airport we will save like $200!! LOL I just need the taxi to get to the car rental place.
I know, but if I get it from the Alamo Westin (hotel) and return it to the airport we save big bucks!! $$ I normally just pick it up at the airport, but the savings were too good to pass up!

oh! i misunderstood.
yes, there are taxis waiting there. when you walk out after getting your bags you will want to walk to the left...there is a line of them at the entrance of where the cars drive in and they just wait there.
I've gotten awesome Priceline deals at TPA. I think the most I've paid is $16 a day (plus taxes) for a full size car and twice I've had a free upgrade to an SUV. I just start doing the name your price about 2 weeks out, starting at $10 a day. Sometimes I reserve a backup with one of the companies that allow free cancellations but I haven't bothered the last few trips down there to visit my parents. Not sure how much it is off site, but might be worth considering versus the taxi. I usually end up with Hertz.

Wow! Seriously? I'm already down to $135(including tax/fees) for a week rental using my BJ's club discount and my crazy pick up/drop off scheme. LOL It would have been $330 without my mad sleuth skillz.
