For the first time in 2.5 years! Well, on nights I've been gone obviously she hasn't but never when we've been together. We read 5 books and as I was getting ready to nurse her she saw another book she wanted to read so we did that. Then she asked for water and a snack cup and wanted to go in her crib. Weird but okay. So we put her in her crib, said goodnight and closed the door.
This is SO weird you guys. She was calling for us so DH is in there now telling her to go to sleep. We'll see if she remembers and asks for it or not.

DS still nurses and I never thought it would last this long. I will be happy but sad when he decides to wean. I thought it would happen when I was gone for 5 nights for work so I took pics the day before. Nope... back at it. I hope he gives some slow notice so I can mentally prepare to be done with it. I may be more traumatized by it than him .
Maybe your DD will slowly be less interested now...

Aww, it was so bittersweet when DD started to wean. She weaned at 32 months, and I was 20 weeks pregnant, so I was ready to be done, but I was still emotional about it. She did it slowly over the course of a couple of months, and I took so many pictures and told DH "I think this is it" about a million times during that time.

This same scenario played out here a week or so ago. My son was distracted by something at the point where he usually nurses in his bedtime routine, so I decided to roll with it and not remind him about nursing. We went through all the rest of his routine and went to put him into the crib and he flipped out about needing milk. He hasn't skipped it again since, so that was a false start at self weaning I guess. He has been skipping his AM session every few days, so that's something I guess.
He'll be staying with my sister overnight next month while we attend a wedding and this will be the first time I'm not around for bedtime. Seriously hoping it's not a disaster. Months ago, I thought maybe he'd be weaned from the night time nursing session by then but it doesn't look like it will be that way.

My DS (19 m) woke up from his nap today and went and found his sister to play. I think it was the first time he ever woke up from a nap at home and didn't ask to nurse. I find that nursing is becoming less effective as a sleep aid (which, TBH, is mostly why we are still doing it -- I am too lazy to not nurse). So, I suspect we might be on the path toward weaning, which I am OK with because I would probably "force" it around the end of the year anyway. I mean, I will sob like a baby when it's over, but based on my experience weaning my DD, they (and we!) adapt very quickly.
