The outlet is above my bed so more often than not, it is under my pillow charging.
I really have no basis other than a few news stories but I am pretty sure this is a bad idea. I don't think you want to sleep with it under your head all night. Your phone is definitely connecting and searching for signals.
As with many here- it's on my nightstand on silent and it's my alarm. DH, when he's working, is always "on call" if he's at home so he HAS to have his phone near him.

I sleep with it on my pillow or next to me on the bed--I don't have a night stand. I also fall asleep better listening to something, so I'll put on a show on Netflix at low volume face down.
And now I guess I'll go add not sleeping with my phone on my pillow to the ways I've changed because of gbcn.
Nope. We use an actual alarm clock, so I don't need it close. It's on silent (not even vibrate) charging, but either downstairs or across the room on the dresser. H is the same way.
Yes. I use it as an alarm, so it stays on my nightstand.
I wonder how much of this is related to whether you have a landline. I can't think of anyone my age who has a landline, but most of my parents' friends have one (anecdote, I know). I want to be able to get to a phone in an emergency.
Yes, it stays beside my pillow along with my tv remote. They would be on my nightstand, but I put a cat bed there so my cats will leave me alone while I sleep.
Some nights I fall asleep holding it, but more often than not it's plugged in on my dresser or nightstand. Leaving it in the living room doesn't work for me; I am too anxious something will happen to a family member in the middle of the night and I'll miss the call.
It charges at night on my bedside table, through my alarm clock. I tend to use my phone in place of my alarm clock because it's quieter, and doesn't wake DH.
I only use it as an alarm clock when I travel. Otherwise it is on silent charging in my office. I like to plug it in about 30 minutes before I go to bed.
When I wotked in a preschool and was the sub coordinator I did because j would be awaken by people calling out in the morning. Now it stays downstairs charging. DH has his next to him but he uses it as an alarm.
It's on my nightstand charging; I also use it as an alarm. I'm too paranoid of someone trying to get ahold of me in an emergency to have it on silent either.
It sleeps with me, and yet it still respects me in the morning. Ar, ar, ar.
It charges on the edge of the bed. I don't have it on the nightstand because if I charge it there, I wind up knocking it onto the floor while fumbling to turn off the alarm.
