I go for the easiest types of crafts (laziest for me). We go on scavenger hunts on walks and I let her paint the rocks, leaves, pine cones, other random nature garbage when we get home. It doesn't require a lot from me and keeps her entertained for a while.
I also race her body on large pieces of paper inside or with chalk outside and let her color herself in.
Does it have to be a "craft" or will an "activity" work? I take a disposable tin pans (9 x 13) and fill it most about 3/4 with water. Put cheap little toys in. Freeze it. Then C plays ice block archaeology on the patio. She loves it.
I know G is too young for these, but file it away pugz because almost 5 yo DD got one from SIL for her birthday this past weekend and she has been OBSESSED with it for the last 48 hours. Plus side includes zero mess, zero help from me needed, and it works on fine motor skills and following directions. And it's cute once it's finished!

What tool does she use to get the toys out?
Mostly she uses her hands by rubbing them on the ice. It's 90-100 degrees here right now so it's not difficult. She also uses her hammer from the Green Toys tool box.
I'm going to pick up some canvases and pre them with a good base and let DD go to town on them. She loves seeing artwork that she created up in the house. I'm also commissioning a real abstract art piece and I think her abstract art will blend nicely with it.
