DS starts preschool in a month, holy cow! I feel so unprepared. I have questions:
1.) School is from 9-12, I am supposed to send him with a snack. School is peanut-free and "tree nut sensitive." Snack ideas?
2.) f/u from question 1, what snack containers do you guys like? It has to be something DS can open easily.
3.) Do I need to label his clothes? Conceivably he won't be changing clothes. Will they store some backup underwear I provide? He's PTed but has roughly 1 small pee accident a week.
1. We do a lot of pouches, Annie's crackers, cut fruit, cheese sticks 2. I just get the Ziploc take and toss stuff. If it comes home great if not oh well. 3. Label outerwear and things they could take off. Our school asks for one complete back up outfit in a large Ziploc. Be sure to add socks and I toss in cheap/old shoes.
Snacks: Cheese, crackers, cut up fruit, mini-bagel, mini pita with hummus, applesauce cups or easy open pouches, carrots if he'll eat them, yogurt, raisins if they allow them, pirate booty or cheerios. I've always used zip-lock bags.
I labeled clothing. Kids change a lot even in a part time program. If you want to be more selected label anything he'll take off like coats, hats, sweaters etc.
Last year for snack I would send cut up fruit, cheese sticks, yogurt poiches. DD was in 1 year old preschool though so the teacher helped with opening things. I'm sure the teacher would help open it if he couldn't?
I did not label clothes, but I labeled th big ziploc I put her extra clothes in.
3. Definitely label his bag, coat, hat, mittens & anything you will leave at school. I love our Name Bubbles labels. The "daycare value pack" lasted 3 years for us. I actually still have some left but did order more clothing labels a few months ago. (if you peel carefully you can even reuse labels, I reused the bottle labels on all of his cups) Free shipping on all orders through 7/31. Code SAVE10 should save 10%.
ETA: Washi tape & a sharpie have worked well too on M's toys/show & tell items. I haven't tried it on clothing though.

Check if the school has preferences for this stuff. Our school provides a safe snack list and wants them in labeled small ziplocs or reusable bags.
We send a back up outfit in DD's bag everyday. Not only for potty accidents but also paint, mud, etc. DD has never used her backup. DS1 did once when he puked. Don't forget to switch it out to keep it seasonally appropriate.

Thank you! I was wondering if they would be on sale. I need a new pack for J.

A lot of preschools have this information on a website or an information packet that comes to the house a week or two prior.
1.) School is from 9-12, I am supposed to send him with a snack. School is peanut-free and "tree nut sensitive." Snack ideas?
bottle of water, string cheese, cut up fruit, crackers
2.) f/u from question 1, what snack containers do you guys like? It has to be something DS can open easily.
Ziplocs. Waxed paper if I sent a sandwich.
3.) Do I need to label his clothes? Conceivably he won't be changing clothes. Will they store some backup underwear I provide? He's PTed but has roughly 1 small pee accident a week.
DS's preschool asked for a complete change for potty accidents and getting dirty outside or with paint. These went in a big Ziploc with the kid's name.
I second everyone's snack suggestions -- that's what we do as well.
DD keeps a change of clothes/underwear in a Ziploc bag in her school bag, per her school's request. I just write her name on the outside of the bag. I do put her name on her jackets, though.
