Cuz I have 2. 1) We are having DS1's daycare teacher babysit Sat night cuz we have a concert and our nanny can't do it. It will be from 4-11/12. Would you have dinner there? Order pizza? Tell her there ckn nuggets in the freezer? 2) Ds2's bday is in a couple weeks. Favors are a big deal around here. Typically $5-10. We are doing a dump truck theme. Any ideas for favors? We will have have about 20-25 kids from babies-about 8yos.
Anyone care to share their stories of cervical status and when they went into labor? 36 weeks, 5 days today and I am 60% effaced, but only fingertip dilated. I know you can be a few cm dilated and still not going into labor for weeks, but what about effacement? Just curious if anyone else remembers from their pregnancies!

Pizza. Leave her cash and the menu

I've seen those plastic dump trucks you can put in the diswasher for $2-3 each. Maybe truck related small board books or coloring books?
For a 3 year old who is too tall for a cares harness, and whose regular car seat is too wide for an airplane seat, would you just use the lap belt on a plane? Assume buying a new slim seat for the trip is kinda ridic.
Yes. I think DD started using the regular belt when she was around that age.

I was 60% effaced and 0 cm dilated for a while with DS #2. At least 2 weeks. I had a few bouts of false labor, but despite being effaced I wasn't dilated at all (plus my contractions stopped), so they sent me home. He was eventually born a day after his due date.

Two days before I went into labor I was 1-2 cm dilated and 30% effaced. At 36 weeks, 2 days I went into labor without really realizing it. I contracted all day and by the time I went to the hospital at 7:00 in the evening, I was 3 cm, 100% effaced. DS was born around noon the next day.

I don't think effacement or dilation has much bearing on when labor will happen. I had pre-term labor at 36 weeks which dilated me to SIX centimeters. I went about my life for another MONTH that dilated before real labor started the day before my due date.

Yes, I have ZERO intention of using DD's carseat tomorrow on our flight.

I don't remember much in the couple weeks of checks before my water broke at 40+4 but my last appointment before that at 40+2 I was 75% effaced and a fingertip dilated. I only ever got to 2 dilated before my c/s and I was in labor for HOURS.

When we flew with 2.5 yo DS, we used only a lap belt. It worked great. He laid flat across the seat between us to nap, still belted in. He slept like that for 90 minutes.
What do newborns wear in the winter? To sleep, to go somewhere via car, etc? I woke up in a panic over this last night.
To sleep - sleepers. Swaddles and/or sleep sacks. Onesies under sleepers if it's super cold. Socks. Hats, maybe?
In the car, you can put blankets or shower cal style covers on top of the car seat straps once buckled.
Ditto. DS was born the end of February and it was COLD. He slept in a cotton footed sleeper with a Miracle Blanket (swaddle). We kept the house at 72 degrees so obviously it's not cold indoors. He wore the sleeper 24/7 really. When we went somewhere via car, I buckled him in and put a blanket over him, or a shower cap style cover. NO heavy coats under the car seat straps!

1. Weird question: When do birth certificates arrive? I can't for the life of me remember if we received my baby's birth certificate. If I need to get another copy, where do I go/who do I call?
2. My baby weight loss has plateaued and I'm eating like a truck driver. I have about 10-15 pounds to go. Is this because I'm breast-feeding? Will my appetite go back to normal and will the weight fall off when I wean? PLEASE SAY YES.

Thank you both! I saw on a car seat site to layer a tank top onesie, long sleeved onesie, top, sweater, leggings, pants, hat and then use two blankets over the car seat. I think I would be sweating buckets with all that even if it was freezing!!

My son wore sleep n plays with white Gerber onesies under for 12 weeks. He didn't spit up or get blow ours, so I changed his outfit every other day. What and blanket for time outside, but the bucket seat is pretty cozy too. I didn't like dressing my tiny baby, and I thought pants and shirts were a bit complicated on a newborn.

Maybe if the car was stuck in a snow drift! Good rule of thumb is one more layer vs what you are wearing, and keep the head covered.

I had nada, zilcho, let's-discuss-induction-next-week status at my Thursday appointment (37.5 weeks) and went into labor on Monday, had the baby six hours after my water broke at home. So I don't put much stock in those numbers, lol.

1. In my county, you have to go pick it up from the courthouse. It's not mailed. I just got E's social security card in, so his birth certificate should be ready soon if it isn't already. My county typically takes 3 weeks to process.

I think you need to call the county clerk.
Thank you! I just texted my DH about it and he found the paperwork (I believe we can request it on-line) to get things moving.

In Cali you must order it from the county in which the baby was born. We either have to drive our asses down to the county recorders office or have some documents notarized and mailed in.
DS has diaper leaks almost every night. It's driving me crazy because it makes wakeups 10x worse. He's large for 8mos and I've tried putting on a size 4 (during the day he wears 3s) with the same results. We are using Pampers Cruisers and I'm changing him during the night - sometimes he leaks within 3-4 hours. Suggestions?

I was 80% effaced and 4cm dilated for about 6 weeks. They freaked us out about it, told my husband how to deliver a baby, and it still took 12 hours (3 hours of pushing) to have her. ETA: I had her at 37w5d.
1. My 4.5mo is holding his own bottles and re-paci-ing himself. Normal or twy sentwa?
2. I'm cleaning bottles nightly, rotating between two sets every other day, and the nipples are looking foggy. Should I boil them or normal or new nips needed?
1. My 5.5 month old can put in his paci. Sometimes. Can't really hold his bottle.
2. We just use foggy nipples. It happened after just a few uses.

In my state you have to order the first one. None automatically come.

DS's birth certificate came in the mail about two weeks after he was born. I guess I must have filled out paperwork while we were in the hospital. It's all a blur!
