Don't make eye contact! Your peace and quiet will be over if you do.
LOL! I hold something in front of my face when DD is playing quietly and looks at me. FIVE MORE MINUTES!
And yes, DD is 13 months, but I love to give her crayons and a box. A lot of the time the box turns into a toy, but WHATEVER. (Ok wait, I just realized maybe the box helps hold the coloring sheet? LOL, I just have DD color on the actual box.)
Another fun thing to do is to take a side of a big box and hang it onto your fence or deck and have the child "paint" it with water using dollar store paint brushes and rollers.
I'm jealous of these kids younger than DS who don't eat the crayons!
That's exactly what I was thinking! Every time I give DD a crayon, she colors for about 2.5 seconds, then bites a chunk of crayon off. I want to be able to color with her! (or leave her in a box to color on her own )
We turned a box into a robot and 2 months later DS still finds spots to color. If you really want to blow her mind get some stickers for her to put on it. He occupied himself for 45 minutes just putting stickers on a box.
My ds has been doing this for years - he is 8. Unfortunately we have a pile of boxes in front of our fireplace that is 6 ft wide and 4 ft tall and 4 ft deep. He doesn't want to get rid of them and sometimes adds to them. he actually makes thing out of them.
