I have said it before but I'll say it again, I love CVS. I love that they make it so easy to get great deals with sales + coupons + ECBs with not that much time/effort. I just walked out with a few more items for next to nothing.
I feel like a zombie today. Slept 1130 to 2, then til 240 when our power went out and woke both me and H up. We were up trying to figure out what was going on. Thankfully it came on at 330. But then we were wide awake. Then up for the day at 640. Ugh.
My dad got a job!!!!! After looking for almost two years, getting an offer that was rescinded, and starting all over, he finally has accepted a fabulous position. I am so excited and relieved. My siblings and I were beginning to think he would never work in his field again.
(He has been working these past two years, just not in his field).

I'm so sick of summer, can it be fall already?
Ditto! It's nearly 100 degrees and thunderstorming. Usually C's room drops to 69-71 degrees overnight but stayed at 77 all night. It's hot, muggy, and miserable (I did turn on the AC for a little bit but that's only a temporary fix for now). I just want it to be cool enough to take lots of walks and play at the park!
Likely going to story time at the library again today and then swimming later, if the thunderstorms aren't going on when we need to leave.
Crap, my mom gave me wrong info. She said my dad already accepted the offer, when it turns out he hasn't received it yet. He thinks he will get it today or tomorrow but having this up in the air makes me nervous again. I just want him happy and financially secure!

Our actual temps are like 99-100, with heat indexes near 110. It's hot and humid! Our a/c is running almost constantly, and our bedrooms are about 80 degrees during the day, about 77 at night. The living room is the only comfortable room in the house.
In short, it's hot!
I also would like to take walks in the stroller but I'm not getting the baby out in this heat if I don't have to.
HoneySpider what did you get at CVS? I love their deals too and always make out well.
Small load today, just laundry detergent, mouthwash, and 2 packages of Tena pads (I call them maxi pads but they are more like slightly bulked up pantiliners, haha)

This day isn't going fast enough. I still have 2.5hrs left and I just want to start my Friday. I have my list of things to buy at X-mas Tree Shop, Bed Bath, and Michaels. Plus lunch at a new Outback with a friend. Come on 5:30pm.
The fascinator I ordered for the West Virginia derby arrived today. I'm obsessed and wearing it while I clean. From pictures of past years, very few people are wearing hats but I read they do have a best hat contest! I don't care if I look crazy, I'm wearing this thing all day!

pooh8402- yikes, that's hot! I'm thankful C was a winter baby...no way he would survive swaddled in our house right now. It was 78 in his room so I'm trying to get him to nap in the PNP in our office downstairs...this is crazy...DH is going to have to compromise and use the AC during the day (we use our swamp cooler at night and it usually drops it nicely which get us through the days but lately the low is 70 and humid so it's by working). What does your LO sleep in?
I can't deal with the heat. It is over 100. Being extremely pregnant in late July in south Texas is terrible.
We recently moved to a house we are going to gut/add on/renovate next year that is from the 50s. No central AC, only window units. It is awful.
Today I get to clean my bathroom where DS decided last night to attempt to wash out the blue hair dye from his camp Wacky Wednesday outfit in our bathroom sink instead of the shower. Blue everywhere. Le sigh.

I meant to ask this the other day, but are you doing a Christmas in July party or something? I've never heard of anyone doing December decoration shopping this early.
lindsaymg Sorry about the heat. I had a late June baby and even that felt pretty miserable for the last few months. At least you're almost done! P.S. Your son is so adorable. I'd be tempted to permanently dye his hair blue. It's so fun.

No, that's just the name of the store. It's sort kinda like a TJMaxx but w/out the clothes or a Homegoods. I can find cosmetics, and house hold items for much less then even Target. They also sell things spices and teas, and kitchen items. @moonbeam, how would you describe it?

my kid is weird and LIKES being warm. he doesn't usually sleep well in our living room (about 74 degrees) unless he is swaddled, but sleeps nicely in his room or our room. at night, I've been putting him in either a sleep and play and thin swaddle blanket, or a onesie and swaddle (woombie or modswad). I prefer the onesie/swaddle combo for safety, but we only have 2 swaddles in his size, and at the rate he's growing, he'll be out of them soon enough. I can't keep up with the laundry since he seems to pee on one or the other every time he wears one.
he sleeps in our room at night in the PnP. I do worry about SIDS, but we always have a ceiling fan going to circulate air.

To me Christmas Tree Store is sort of like a Big Lots, kind of a hodge podge of everything. It's a good store, I try to go in the one by my parents' house when I'm there.

Have you been to an Ocean State Job Lot? I miss those too.

To me it's like a high-brow Big Lots! lol
I hadn't even considered Big Lots, lol. I was thinking a much nicer Building 19 too haha

Checking in from Canada! We realized on our way out yesterday that Thunder Bay is in eastern time! How is it almost 11?!
Anything we should buy that we can only get here and can take back? We're right by a super store so they have pretty much everything, lol. We got some wine to drink while we're here. We have to pay duty if we bring it back don't we? I keep forgetting we're in a different country. Like I realized we don't have much cash. I can just go an ATM.. wait, I don't think that will work. Oops, lol.
