We had lunch catered at work and as I was casually chatting with the owner, the sterno set a lid on fire and filled the room with thousands of little pieces of floating plastic.
I took my food and ran back to my office while they were all still trying to put out the fire.... Ah, Friday.
I had to wait for a CW to finish a task before I could go out for lunch. I just grabbed a hot pretzel from Target because I had to pick up a gift anyway.
It came with a fountain soda, and I've wanted a fountain Pepsi for days now. Regular Pepsi. I poured it at the fountain myself. I definitely hit the regular Pepsi button.
We brought home a bunch of samples from the tile shop, and the rep said that the square ones also came in 3x6 rectangular. Contractor goes to order the one we want and, nope. So won't be able to pick anything out until the start of next week, and either we'll end up with square tiles or something with a longer lead time and/or much higher price. Either way it means won't be ready in time for babyniq's birthday party. I mean, they probably weren't going to be ready by then anyway, but now it's definitely not going to be ready.
I just finished wiping out the oven from the self-cleaning cycle yesterday (the house did not, in fact, burn to the ground). The storage drawer below the oven was particularly gross. I'd rather just not have it at all, since I don't use it and it's apparently just a receptacle for gross stuff under the oven.
Now that it's clean, line it with foil. Pull the foil out and toss it before you clean the oven next time. That's what i used to do with that storage drawer
I have a 2nd oven on bottom that I bought on purpose because I wanted 2 ovens, but didn't have the space for it. Mine does this too....but I'm not sure I can line it. Need to find out.
Whoa. You are a genius. Here is a flower for you. (rose)
Today was the latest I have ever stayed on a Friday. I'm always out by 3:30 (usually earlier) but stayed til 5 today. Then I possibly have a conference call tonight. TONIGHT! WHO the hell does a call at 9pm on a Friday NIGHT? Granted the reason for it is historic but damn. It might get delayed to tomorrow morning...in that case, no, I'm sleeping in. Several of the directors has already told me they were muting their phones and drinking their beer/wine/liquor. I'm so perking up if I hear one of them get asked a question lol.
On a positive note, H got an official offer and they gave him 40% increase instead of 30%! YAY YAY YAY! Now he's dreading telling his current boss "thanks for creating this perfect job for me but XYZ offered me a helluva a lot more money at a not so perfect job." I just hope this is the right move for him and that he will be happy in that job.

OMG! I do this! I thought my mom and I were the only ones. She's crazier though. She foils the whole top of her stove including the cradle under the burner.
The people who lived in our rental before us were so so nasty. Even H is afraid to touch the oven. Luckily we cook practically everything in the toaster oven anyways.
I need a drink. Discovered our HVAC unit has been leaking. All over the basement. Our floor has a slight slope due to settling and the water was 1" at the deepest. So the air is turned off right now and we have someone coming out tomorrow. I think I am going to melt before then.
My coworkers are the best. They gave me a gift bag with things for my move. Wine, chocolate, bread to bless the house, laundry soap since I'll finally have a washer and dryer, a toy for the cats, and some cat treats.
auroraraangoli, sorry to take so long to respond to your kind pep talks last week. H called them nearly two weeks ago and they said they're reviewing applications and then would schedule interviews. A friend of a friend asked one of their organization leaders and he said that they recieved a bunch of applications. Which of course makes me nervous that H's won't rise to the top.
We're driving home from the lake right now (6hours) and talking about how he feels about his current job, resume and career path. It's a good conversation, if somewhat of a bummer.

Before you pay your first born to the AC guy, look for the drain line and see if you can clean it. Maybe an air compressor or a small drain snake? It's usually 1/2" PVC and can clog. Then it backs up and leaks everywhere, but it's an easy fix that might have you sleeping in the cool tonight.
Eta: DOH! Reading fail. I saw the bump and this at the end, and didn't realize it was Friday night (never mind the title *blush*)
@idaholakelady I hope that they at least bring him in for an interview. I think it's good that they've not passed yet. Fingers crossed that it all works out for the best.

Thanks! We tried it. But our drain pipe wraps around half of our basement, so it just wasn't something we could fix on our own.

The key question - are you cool now?
At home? Yes. Thank goodness.
But I got to work this morning, and the A/C is broken! It's hotter inside than outside. I am leaving at 9 to go work from home if it doesn't get any cooler.

Oh that's horrible I hope you get back to cool soon (10 more minutes - I think you are working from home today)
When our AC went out, I went to work on a telework day just for cool.
